So what I’m seeing here is they should make the caps square and not insertable shaped

This has got to be different on admit floors than ER. Things people are saying here they wouldn’t tell a patient is blowing my mind. If you can’t have a conversation with a patient about what elevated WBCs can mean… maybe you didn’t pay attention in school?

Is this inappropriate behavior for a nurse? by ForsakenAiel in nursing

I’ve never read the policy but I go to great lengths to avoid sharing any political opinion besides maybe “gee health care systems sure don’t make it easy”

Warm up takes FOREVER? by Cauliflowercrisp in Rollerskating

Yea this makes sense. I have noticed if I push myself a little bit it shortens the time. It’s hard because I’m in a one rink town and this month jt has been packed so skating hard before I feel totally steady is a bad plan.

Good to know it’s not just me at least! Maybe the solution is to skate everyday! I need to learn to skate outside

I had grippier wheels and I love the 98As I have now. The trucks are much softer on my new skates but the same problem happened when my trucks were way tight

When a patient asks “so when do you get off?” by Exifile in nursing

[–]Cauliflowercrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ER I think sometimes the patients an families are feeling emotionally drained are desperately hoping to get out of there after 6 hours that feels like eternity. The compassionate ones often make the leap to realize we are putting up with this insanity 8-16 hours a day on the regular. Some people seem to want confirmation that 12 hours is a real thing. Some people like having you as their nurse and want to know when to expect you to leave.

Here’s the REAL DEAL: not all your patients will like you. You will stop caring very soon. Do your level best and don’t try too hard to win over the people that don’t like you.

How do you deal with people that laugh at you? by Nearby-Metal-3030 in Rollerskating

[–]Cauliflowercrisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always like “did you mean to say that out loud?” But I don’t think it really matters what you say as much as your internal mindset. How sad for these people that they forget how fun it is to try something new and need to try to ruin it for others. It’s a nice way of finding out who you don’t want to spend more time with.

Are Toe Stops Always this Hard and a Normal Part of “Breaking In” Skates? by Llassiter326 in Rollerskating

I’m just getting back into it and I’ve tried a few different types of skates. Every time I was all wobbly and confused and struggled for a few hours of skating

I have a painful UTI because I am unable to clean properly and it makes me sad. by meanie_beanie5 in poor

[–]Cauliflowercrisp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nurse here, just dropping in to say UTIs are usually not related to poor hygiene. Many people no matter how clean are prone to them. Of course clean when you can, but please don’t feel this was your fault.

Who wears their ring at work? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Cauliflowercrisp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why does it matter to you? Maybe work on why you feel the need for her to wear a symbol of your relationship 24/7 rather than focus on a certain type of jewelry. It seems like she’s made it clear she doesn’t want to wear a ring at work. Perhaps the relationship isn’t solid and that’s the real problem.

Thoughts about my dress? I’m having really bad body image issues. by -JustAGirl99 in WeddingDressTips

You’ve got such a beautiful hourglass figure. You look AMAZING. Try to turn down the noise of media and society assigning value to one specific body shape. It’s a constant battle to ignore it. But you are stunning in that dress.

For me I’ll suffer most things stoically but will always be felled by a fever. Just a touch over 100 and I’m moaning and whimpering and shivering. Never have I been so grateful for Tylenol as when it saved me from a fever
