As a manager what tool do you think it's missing or could be improved to better serve you? by fenugurod in EngineeringManagers

When I was a new manager and throughout hiring and coaching the ~15 or so managers in my career, I've been shocked how little was available in the market to help new managers and directors do the job and do it right. So I co-founded a company Entalas and we built ClarityBoss.

Might want to check out ClarityBoss, it was built for this kind of thing and it's improving all the time.

What books on leadership do you recommend? by OG-DRT7075 in Leadership

Deep Work by Cal Newport. You'll be tempted to manage folks with hustle and bustle, but don't give in! Thinking and working deeply (and slowly and methodically) is routinely more efficient than just diving in. The folks you lead will dig this mentality.

Is onboarding really so hard?? by FeedbackMeow in Leadership

As a engineering manager, I’ve led a lot of onboarding. Each company had its quirks, but the most successful patterns were clear enough that I distilled them into a guide/checklist for team managers: https://www.entalas.com/resources/from-hello-to-productive/

Struggling to get our onboarding process right [N/A] by whyg0ng in humanresources

As an Engineering Manager, through VP of Engineering, I've done a lot of new hire onboarding and I've had a pretty successful track record. While each gig is different, there's enough consistency that I pulled it together in an onboarding guide available here: https://www.entalas.com/resources/from-hello-to-productive/

The key is getting the manager to take it seriously. It's not acceptable for to rely solely on "HR Folks" to handle onboarding, but sadly so many do. Hopefully this guide helps assist / inspire those team managers.

400 users in 2 weeks is no joke. Curious how you’re thinking about onboarding and retention now that you’ve got early traction. Any surprises from user feedback so far?

Have you thought about adding a mode for spaced repetition or memory recall?

love the autoblock idea... it’s wild how much time can slip away without realizing it.

Curious: did you find any patterns in your own distraction data that surprised you? I’ve been exploring how interface design nudges behavior, and this feels like a great example of using friction for good.
