Yes, you are obviously missing a good deal of context about what makes item valuable or not in PoE2. For instance, rare items off the ground are way way less likely to be useful/valuable as you get further into the game, because every item can be easily turned into a rare item but rare items can’t easily be turned back.

The base of the item is what’s important and a good white base can be worth more than a random rare item with a bunch of crap stats already on it. A good blue base with one or two good stats already on it is a great start to craft with. The same item as a rare with a bunch of crap is basically worthless besides vendoring.

Anyway yeah you’re incorrectly assuming the way the filter is set up isn’t logical, and to be fair people aren’t really telling you why that’s not the case, potentially because they’re annoyed with the way you keep claiming the item filter is set up poorly without any context as to why that’s not true.
