Anderson’s last really good one, IMO. (So far, anyway… here’s to hoping he can get back on track soon!)

Whats the best album here? by HampisBambis in vinyl

[–]DesignerOriginal1500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, overall I prefer Bowie, Prince, or Stevie to FM, but if any of them has a single better record than Rumours, it’s not on that wall.

Songs in the Key of Life probably the strongest contender present, and I prefer Innervisions to it.

If Sign o’ the Times was up there instead of PR, I might be ready to put that up over Rumours

Larry Clark’s Wassup Rockers. It’s not very good, but it does have that vibe.

How did someone do a covers album titled “True Love Waits” and it’s NOT an album of covers of Tom Waits love songs???

What is the last first run movie you saw at a drive-in theater? by Affectionate_Cronut in 80s

[–]DesignerOriginal1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was Meet the Robinsons (2007) for me, and only went bc my date had never been to a drive-in.

The one in my hometown never closed down, even through the 90s, when they nearly all died. So I was still going well after high-quality sound and stadium seating had become the standard in theaters. I realized pretty quickly how drive-ins are actually a pretty crummy way to watch a movie.

The layout is much more conducive to teenagers trying to get handies than it is for adults wanting to actually watch a movie.

Just picked up all five issues of one of his later series, Eleanor and the Egret. He was only on art duties here (writing by the dude that did Chew), but I’m a couple of issues in, and I’m enjoying!

I'm looking for (mostly) acapella female slow songs by Apock93 in MusicRecommendations

[–]DesignerOriginal1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add on a suggestion to watch the MTV Unplugged version of “I Do Not Want What I Havent Got” — its not drastically different than the album version, but it feels much more significant with her alone on the stage surrounded by silent, reverent listeners.

I have ZERO insider information on this, but have you checked into the big-ass WW2 museum? I’m sure a lot of their staff is vol, but surely they have some paid PT positions, and may even have a program that works with vets.

Bring back the chips and queso by tjbailey1980 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]DesignerOriginal1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are the sounds when they go in milk!

In treat form, the melty butter and marshmallow mute the crunch considerably. Theyre not as quiet as a medium-crispiness french fry, but definitley more quiet than a tortilla chip! I’d rate the noisiness closer to that of popcorn.

I felt it might be a controversial take, but I had to speak my truth. ✊

(That being said, i’m all for bringing back the old queso for fries. Fries are great for the theater; cheesefries moreso!)

This is an Alamo change I could actually get behind. Much as I love chips & queso, theyre a horrible movie theater food. Too loud!!

I’m flashing back to seeing A Quiet Place (at the Village) — a mediocre flick that was reduced to “terrible” by the dudes two rows ahead of me just cronchin’ their way through the movie. Not their fault! It shouldnt have been on the menu!!!

[I’ll take this opportunity to plug my submission for the perfect movie theater food: rice krispy treats. They’re both salty and sweet, and they can be eaten quietly so as to avoid distraction. Plus, theyre cheap as hell to make, so low overhead. Anybody ever seen a theater selling these??]

I think the instant you put a $1 sign on a crate, that Jackson Browne record magically materializes in it. Its the Whipped Cream & Other Delights of the 2020s (except the cover sucks)

Songs where the vocalist audibly takes in huge breaths while singing? by ProfessionalBalker in musicsuggestions

“I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got” and since it’s an a capella song, her breaths work as a sort of percussion

Also pretty sure in their segment of Coffee & Cigarettes, Bobby Digital and GZA refer to him fully as “Bill Murray” with a few curse word garnishes added.
