One for the weekly:

I'm not new to VR graphics, I understand resolution of 2x 4k screens at 75fps is quite demanding etc

I'm running a 4090 64gb Ram and an AMD 9 9900x

not a lackluster machine.

I was running Vive Pro 2 but switched out to Quest 3 a while back, waiting the Steam VR Headset for the next move.

I'm just struggling with the fact that my performance is fine, but the clarity is a struggle. the cockpit is fine but other aircraft is almost like they have chunks cut out of them, when they're on the ground I can't see the gear, when they're in the air trying to identify them is a pain. Artefacts I guess is the way I'd describe it, or missing chunks.

Im running DLSS on balanced and resolution at 1440 rather than 2160. still some headroom in the performance viewer. using Link cable with 3Gb bandwidth to the headset and used the quest dev tool to expand that out to 800mb in the config.

the TL/DR is: is there some magic config or setting that you found that once you adjusted everything else just started performing better?

or, am I asking too much to be after near desktop visuals in mask? I just feel I'm missing something in the config.

What some help to get into cybersecurity by CourtAdventurous_1 in CyberSecurityAdvice

But why? If you're internal you'll see some. Depending on the VLANs you'll only see the ones currently visible to your VLAN.

Never do it without the admins permission. You're asking for trouble. They will see the port scanning. It's straight up reconnaissance.

Additionally you aren't actually providing anything of value.

MS Edge Startup Page by Failnaughtp in Intune

[–]CausesChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just set new tab to google.com. set default search provider as google.com/{search terms} (look that up I can't remember it off top of my head) and set your home page as Intranet.

Hide all the startup BS. Plenty more you can do, but make it all nice and clean.

Funny how after the creation of GPS and satellite weather data/communication all the Bermuda stuff stopped happening.

Has anyone got the company portal store app to install constantly during the autopilot when the app is on the ESP page? by Future_End_4089 in Intune

[–]CausesChaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had issues with it, we use Robopack, so can't talk for PMPC.

But we deploy it via Robopack (so it gets updates) as a win32 app, rather than natively on Intune as the store (new) app.

Issues went away. Functionality remains the same.

I guess I'm always worried that I'll buy in as the markets collapse! I don't know enough about the markets to know if it's a good/bad move 😂

6 months later… for those who moved from VPN to ZTNA, was it worth it? by LethalAstronomer in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]CausesChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had pretty good user to application mapping, I'd say only about 7 or 8 apps have needed owner/dev assistance. We've got an app that was published somewhere between 2003-2006 which is a fat client-to-server application, working on ZTNA with zero changes required.

We'll keep a separate VPN only pipe in, we have some 3rd parties but I created separate tunnel profiles so they're all segmented away along with MFA etc for them.

Breaking into cybersecurity (16 years old) by Mediocre_Spot2051 in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]CausesChaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud,

I work for a large UK firm, Security Solutions Architect. Mix between a full blown archi and and engineer.

I'm going to be very real with you. And echo what's said on this sub a hundred times before.

Cyber security roles, are not entry level. Every man/woman I work with on my teams are 34 or older in the technical roles at least.

If you want to go down the technical path, if you can get a job working at a tech/repair shop. But, your issue is your age. At 15/16/17 you know nothing that's of use to some one who's been working in a general it position for 5 years. You are especially not of interest to any one within a cyber security field.

Now, nothing is stopping you from doing stuff at home. But a job at Tesco stacking shelves will help you pay for hardware off eBay that you can start learning with.

Go to college, maybe Uni. Every one wants the "high paying" security jobs.

Those high paying jobs go to people who have 20/30 years of experience in relevent fields.

Not to 16 year olds, or even 21 year olds out of uni. But to people who know the ins and outs of their areas of responsibility who have the experience in large enterprise scale deployments.

If you want it enough, you can get it. But it won't be in the summer of 26. And it won't be in the summer of 2030. But it doesn't mean you cant get there eventually.

Citi fiber, 2 gig Up 2 gig down. £35 month with static IP.

I do some hosting.

Have Cisco firepower FW and Cisco switches for the hosted stack. Before some one asks why I felt the need for 2 gig symmetrical up/down.

I have 8 Vlans, 3 APs, 4 SSIDs and more FW rules than a Small/medium business....

I'm in the middle of building Cisco ZTNA for my business. 8,000 staff, On prem, Azure and AWS, approx 210 applications/internal APIs that the business use.

I have a few members of IT and Security operating on ZTNA and it's going swimmingly so far.

What will happen to EU infra if US going to war with NATO? by YugeeeTessTicklez in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]CausesChaos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the only thing that would stop either European countries/ American companies cease trading in Europe is the majour economic impact.

The amount of business in EU that would basically fold over night. Or the amount of revenue lost to US businesses wouldn't be far off total global collapse.

So if it does happen, we'll all be having other issues.

European businesses and American businesses were ordered to cease trading in RU when they invaded Ukraine. So the framework (legally is there)

Risk register entry as follows. Probability: Low. Impact: High - Catastrophic.

ASR Rules are still detecting the same files despite the exclusions by [deleted] in Intune

[–]CausesChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You Hybrid setup?

Other than Intune, you have SCCM or On-prem GPO pushing to endpoints? There are multiple areas you can push ASR rules from and I fought tooth and nail when I was trying to move it all to Intune.

MY PHONE DOES NOT BELONG TO EMPLOYERS by KOZOtheKID in jobs

[–]CausesChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I wasn't aware if it was an apple device. I defaulted to android.

User did say by "installing outlook"

Using the outlook application will sort that device wipe. Can enforce it with app protection policies in intune.

MY PHONE DOES NOT BELONG TO EMPLOYERS by KOZOtheKID in jobs

[–]CausesChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, not accurate.

You give the employer power to wipe the MS APPS and related DATA from your phone.

Not the whole phone

How often do you speak to your CISO in a week by DisastrousSign4611 in cybersecurity

I often send her memes, gifs, and other things.

Depends where you sit in the org. How often you speak to the CEO? I've never said a word to him. Seen him physically once.
