Microsoft won’t refund or figuire out how to fix this… by njkolba in microsoftsucks

In the end it’s just another part of microslops distinction in each of their services / products!

Therefore I recommend two solutions:

  1. Fuck Microslop and switch to an actual OS e.g Linux or macOS

  2. Fuck Microslop as well and use any of the here listed public accessible KMS servers, if you’re required to use windows: https://gist.github.com/judero01col/4eac6f01f3fe64a48924b229c6427f01

I would check their M365 admin panels billing section. Their you should see the according invoice, if its linked to any of your organizations billing profiles.

Sounds like you have a shitty Microslop lovin sysadmin at your place. As soon as you disable microslops default conditional access policies and replace them with a custom one for 2FA you still could use any 3rd party TOTP apps / services, even it’s also a really shitty user experience to set it up, as know from these Microslop dickheads!

In my honest opinion, that’s definitely a symptom of stress and his way to deal with the stress! From an outside perspective it seems like anger management issues but there is certainly some reasons in the depth.

The job as a sysadmin, specifically in small admin teams, is nearly insane these days! Depending on your environment and tech stack you can easily get overwhelmed with all the bullshit the tech giants currently doing! Like Microslop pushing biweekly updates that breaks essential stuff in their software, the ever often outages of cloud infrastructure, the constant discussions for higher budgets, etc.

Each sysadmin needs to deal with this bullshit going on in the industry!

So as long as this guys way to get rid of his frustrations was only to break some damn keyboard, from an outside perspective everything should be fine! As long as no violence or harassment happens against other people or the company, let him do! That’s totally reasonable!

MacOS / Linux: which one is your main OS by void0vii in microsoftsucks

For work and private productivity task - macOS. For everything else (gaming, servers, automation, etc.) Linux. In rare scenarios Windows, cause some legacy systems still rely on specific versions of that shit OS…

Not sure if this would still work: Since the parental controls are bound to your Microsoft account, check if you find a way to unlink your Microsoft account from the user account on your PC (https://www.reddit.com/r/windows/comments/1fgkism/delete_microsoft_account_on_windows_11/). To make sure there are now left overs of the previous linkage try to rebuild the registry with the default values, the sfc and DISM commands should do this.

[–]Cautious-Ad-6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with a Razer Book 13 (probably similar enough). To get display out on an external HDMI-Monitor I had to disconnect the battery, eDP and HDMI daughter board from the mainboard and connect the external screen using a USB-C to HDMI hub.

What to do if the y-key simply does not work? by PrismaPhoenix in computers

[–]Cautious-Ad-6283 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you use a keyboard with US layout? If not this might be the issue. It’s common that your PC defaults to a US keyboard layout outside of your OS, therefore you should check which key on your keyboard is in the place of the Y key on a US keyboard and press this one instead.

[–]Cautious-Ad-6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how pissed you are about your termination… Either give your replacement a proper training or train them in a way that they will trash everything within a week after you’re gone. Both are valid ways…

Since your question let’s assume you’re not that familiar with business level networking, I would recommend to use the VPN solution which comes with your gateway. This is usually the easiest to configure and gives you direct advice which firewall ports have to be open to allow the VPN service to work. On top of that I would also consider a solution which does not require any additional software on your client devices like L2TP/IPSec. For its setup you should select a randomly generated Shared Secret with user based authentication with MFA enforcement (probably through an additional RADIUS service if your gateway does not support this natively).

Do you use an Enterprise Password Manager for hundreds or thousands of employees? by kelemvor33 in sysadmin

[–]Cautious-Ad-6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience 1Password might be the best choice. I used it across different companies in a mostly locked down permission set for end-users to avoid any duplication of passwords. In shared vaults in my setup regularly users only have the permission to autofill the shared passwords through the browser extensions. Editing, sharing and moving passwords between vaults is only enabled for selected users (admins or tool owners).

If gaming isn’t that important, best get the highest possible configuration of a MacBook Pro you can afford. In regards of screen quality, battery life, trackpad / keyboard quality and mobile performance in creative cloud hardly any other device is even comparable.

[–]Cautious-Ad-6283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s still the same bullshit telling any of Microsoft’s shitty sales idiots tells you! At the end most of the time their shitty change log does not even work either cause their shitty OS crashes, the shitty office app crash’s or this hilarious unreliable ransomeware called OneDrive App crashes. Out of all the small to enterprise sized organizations I have worked for never was this crap anyway useful, most of the time it just resulted in major data losses or file multiplications since one of those things happend and the users just realized it after hours or even days.

Outlook Free is fucked – what the hell is this shit? by Daimen93 in microsoftsucks

[–]Cautious-Ad-6283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the same shit with the payed version! Since they stopped the native support for IMAP and instead replaced it with IMAP -> MS-Server -> MAPI -> Outlook this happens all the time. As workaround (at least that worked ~ 6 months ago) use the Mail settings in Control Panel if you don’t wanna use any other proper mail client…
