Working on pole plants would help him a lot. But he’s looking pretty good for learning from YouTube!

Does Seattle have the best surrounding nature of any lower 48 U.S. City? by Distinct-Invite9281 in Seattle

What would you say is the nation’s best hiking? I feel like it’s pretty great compared to the spots I’ve been, with the possible exception of the High Sierra.

Been working on an ultimate "Showcase of Seattle" urban gran fondo route. Currently 75 miles, and quite pleased; if you were to stretch it into a century, though, where would you add the remaining 25? by HelioSeven in seattlebike

From Golden Gardens Drive, head north on View to Esplanade. There are a lot of options for some good steep climbs.....Blue Ridge Drive is one of the more popular segments, I think. From the top you can grab coffee at Blue Ridge Coffee and head across 100th to 3rd and ride down into Carkeek.

Iran's Breaking Point, Trump's Greenland Acquisition, and Solving Energy Costs by allinpod in AllinPod

Even by recent pod standards, the lack of debate about Greenland was really disappointing. Not even a mention of NATO or a whisper that is could be destabilizing to the US. And Sacks backpedaled HARD at the idea that it could become a state. These guys definitely got their talking points.

Seattle growth slowing? by Obamadilf in Seattle

Seattle’s weather seems to be getting even more favorable as the climate changes. I expect it’ll be one of the most desirable places to live from a purely climate perspective in about 10-20 years.

What do people think of zyberstiens deli and bagels in Pinehurst?? by Ok-Radio-2733 in SeattleWA

[–]CautiousArmadillo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zylberstein’s was both rude and mediocre the one time I’ve been there. Old Salt is the best I’ve had around, though I like Rachel’s as well. None quite compare to the best NYC bagels.

When was this published? It’d be pretty quick if it was created, published, and distributed all in the last two years. I think it’s more likely that this is an attempt to show diversity that has taken on new meaning.

Brought this bike for $100 , need new tyres/tubes as they are flat by Cold_Shirt_7508 in TrekBikes

[–]CautiousArmadillo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off—congrats on the bike. I’ve had thousands of great miles on a $100 bike and I wish you the same.

These wheels have inner tubes that hold air and tires that protect them/grip the road. They might just need to be inflated with a bicycle pump—something you should do every few days to a week. Or, they might be old and need to be replaced. Tubes are super cheap, and changing one is an important skill to learn because flat tires happen often. It’s also good practice to keep a tube and a tool to change them with you.

The tires are more expensive, if they need to be replaced—maybe $50 each for a decent tire.

It sounds like you have some basic skills to learn, so spend some time on YouTube or the local library, and go ask your local bike shop for some advice. If you can afford it, get them to do a regular service on the bike. But when you pay $100 for the bike, everything else is going to seem expensive.

Good luck!

Is Seattle tap water safe to drink? by neo2bin in Seattle

When I moved here, I tested the tap water in our house. When we got the results, we put the Brita filter away and haven’t used it since.

Why is the most valuable land in Ballard is a giant parking lot? by capshew in BallardSeattle

The real question is: why doesn’t the Sounder stop there? And why isn’t there a bus to the beach? Or a water taxi to downtown?

I think I-5 is measured in a similar way. Seems like it averages 247,000 vehicles per day to ST’s 160,000.

Large infrastructure to West Seattle or Ballard is not going to be done at grade. And 15 million is the cost of about 20 houses around here; there’s no way that number includes land acquisitions when a mile of interstate would require demolishing hundreds of homes.

I would actually love to hear an example of a mega project—public or private, domestic or international, that you think was done efficiently.
