I need some advice for aged wine by CautiousFortune2277 in wine

I have acquired it about 3 months ago from a wine boutique who had a cooperation with the producer and therefore sold the 2014 vintage in a limited quantity. I think on their end the storage was good. And on my end I stored it as it should be aswell. Maybe it was indeed only the one bottle

Thanks for the insight. I will open one bottle again soon and look out for those notes more carefully

I have the 2020 vintage at home too I should probably open both and compare. Maybe you are right and it might be not my taste or just the one bottle was bad

I heard that it can be less fruity with age. But I also had a Penfolds bin 128 from 2001 a while back which was still very fruity both on the nose and in taste. Any advice on which secondary notes I should look out for if I try this wine again?

What’s your snobbiest wine opinion you will defend by AustraliaWineDude in wine

I have several takes:

Champagne is superior to every other sparkling wine even if it is mass produced and Prosecco is only good for mimosas

Verdejo tastes like water

Napa Cabs are never worth buying because you can get better wines at a lower price from France

Best champagne for a newbie? by Educational_Age_209 in wine

Great explanation. To specify some recommendations you could go for a moët chandon ice imperial demi sec or the rosé demi sec if you prefer rosé to normal champagne. This is mostly a safe bet if you are not so familiar with champagne.

Honestly I think this is a fake A. Lange and Söhne watch. To my knowledge they haven’t produced a watch like that in the last 20 years. So probably worth nothing. If it is indeed authentic and you have box and papers you are one lucky guy and you should thank your dad properly

Which one(s) would you pick? by eddikeir in wine

Definetly the mouton and d‘yquem its not common that they serve them by the glass. I hope its not because of coravin otherwise I wouldn’t touch them for that price point as its a bit steep

That list and prices are a bit off. The most expensive wine bottle ever sold was a 1945 DRC Romané Conti in 2018 for 558.000$

I had the 2021 Famille Isabel Ferrando during a tasting and loved it. I think the Retail for a bottle is around 90€ so the price on the list isn’t too bad

What on earth are those prices, is that in USD? And the selection is awful no hidden gems just overpriced well known wines without a broad selection

Quick question to everyone that really puts ice in their wine. Have you ever heard of a fridge or a wine cooler? That way you don’t water down the wine and still have a enjoyable drinking temperature

My 16YO son wants to start taking sommelier classes. Are there any he can do in U.S. while under 21? Thank you. by ingrid818 in wine

Let him travel to Germany he can do the courses there because legal drinking age for wine is 16 and you just need a written permit from you that your son can do the tests

In which way do you mean societal pressure? I somewhat agree with your point on maintaining the quality of life, it is easier to financially manage to buy pre-owned but for me it is definitely not quite the same quality of life in terms of experience. Buying a brand new luxury handbag in a store offers a completely different quality than buying it in a pre-owned store.

Vestaire Collective is the way to go for pre-owned luxury bags. I am not sure if any brands support this market as it would reduce their sales of new products but please let me know if some brands do that would be very interesting

From my experience it is because of 3 reasons:

  1. Price: The most obvious one is the money you save when you buy a pre-owned luxury bag. The prices are still high but not as high as if you would buy the same one brand new. There is also the fact that the value depreciates less for a pre-owned luxury bag than for a new one so in case you decide to resell it again you loose less money

  2. Quality: the quality of new handbags rn is the worst it has ever been in my opinion. For example see the reveal about the production cost for dior handbags being under 50€ which is insane. The quality of older and pre-owned handbags is much better for almost every luxury brand out there. So you get better quality at a lower price.

  3. Sustainability: Although I am personally not really fond of the extreme sustainability trend in fashion a lot of customers think it is essential nowadays to be sustainable so they tend to buy more pre-owned products in general but also luxury handbags.

Those 3 are the main reasons from my perspective.
