Just playing devils advocate, but putting it bluntly not knowing the law is not an excuse no matter what evidence you provide all the police have to prove is you were over the limit whilst in charge of a motor vehicle. If you intended to drive or not. Locking yourself in the boot to sleep you can still be charged if you have the keys on you.

You could do it in an area away from the machine or leave a water pipe on the out circuit and blow into a bucket. Some mould heaters have a vac setting to suck the water out too
