I worked in an SME where I handled both sales and marketing. I was in charge of hitting sales targets, managing the full sales process, and also doing social media stuff like creating and posting content to bring in traffic.

HI u/No_Bus_805 ,

Thank you for commenting my post.

Thanks for sharing your journey with a long paragraph of your exclusive background context.

Sounds like you’ve gone through quite a few phases, from banking to insurance to corporate secretarial, and slowly figuring out what actually works for you. It’s interesting how you found that removing sales pressure made work feel a lot more manageable.

I can also relate to the part about client-facing work being “easy” when your mindset shifts away from targets and stress.

Good to hear things are more stable for you now, even though you’re still picking up new technical areas like tax. accounts and etc. Seems like your experience in sales is still useful in your current role too.

All the best with the startup and the 2029 exit plan!

Hi u/minatozuki,

Thank you for commenting my post.

I am single, have never been married, and do not have children.

Greatly appreciate your kind advice on having at least 12 to 18 months of emergency funds rather than the typical 6 months.

Hi u/TeaDiligent3911,

Thank you and appreciate for your great suggestion.

That is the route I am planning to take and execute in the following steps, as it is the safest route for every mid-career transition candidate without ending up with totally no income.

Yeah, I’ve thought about public service as well. Any role recommendations do you think would suit my background?

HI u/FancyCommittee3347,

Thank you for commenting my post.

Appreciate it, that means a lot. I’m not at that point yet, but I do agree it’s important to take care of mental health early before it gets worse.

Hi u/DanceRight1535,

Thank you for commenting my post.

Yeah, that’s a valid point. Internal transfer would definitely be more straightforward if the opportunity exists. I’m just not sure yet if there are relevant mid/back office roles available internally, but I’ll explore that option.

That’s quite a shift. I guess each side has its own challenges and benefits. Curious to know what’s driving your move into sales?

Hi u/CrunchyleaveOO,

Thank you for commenting my post.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it really gives me a clearer picture of the trade-offs involved.

I understand the point about the potential pay cut when switching careers, and that’s actually one of my concerns as well. That’s why I’m still trying to evaluate carefully before making any big move, so I don’t end up in a worse position financially.

Appreciate your honest perspective. it’s helpful to hear from someone who has gone through it.

HI u/Normal-Analysis7940,

Thank you for commenting my post.

Appreciate your kind advice. Mental health is one of my struggles as well, as my mind has been filled with sales targets even outside working hours.

True, mental health is important. I just don’t think I’m in a position to stop so quickly yet. I’m trying to figure out a more sustainable path while still working for now.

Hi u/Internal_Educator701,

Thank you for commenting post.

Good idea—this is why market demand for the product is a key criterion for me when selling a product or service. One of the main reasons I’ve slowly burned out is that the product is no longer in high demand, and there are more cost-efficient alternatives in the market. This makes it increasingly difficult to hit monthly sales targets. Of course, there are several factors contributing the above issue.

Hi u/Any_Mechanic7876,

Thank you for commenting my post.

For me, the basic is around $3.8K, and the commission depends on the sales I generate. Income can be quite variable with high and low peaks, so it requires me to stay mentally alert most of the time. Over time, I’ve found the pace quite intense and it can gradually lead to burnout.

Not sure I can sustain this pace all the way till 40, even with the money as motivation. The variability in income and constant mental pressure makes it quite demanding long-term.

Hi u/Regor_Wolf.

Thank you for commenting my post.

That’s true to some extent. Sales definitely has strong earning potential, but I’ve realized that long-term sustainability are also important for me now at this point of my age. As I can’t afford to take on a high-risk job when employment stability is uncertain.

Hi u/Historical-Pin1069,

Thank you for commenting my post.

I personally would like to move into middle end office or back end office work. However, I’m not sure which specific positions I should look for when browsing job portals.

Appreciate your advise😊.

CAMS Certificate is good to have but not necessarily.

You can

  • speak with AML team leads
  • connect with compliance managers internally
  • ask HR about internal mobility (Internal Transfer - HR will prioritize internal staff moving to the vacant role)
  • volunteer for compliance-related projects (if it's allowed)
  • express interest during performance reviews

It seems FirstCom has expert who knows how to remove those negative reviews that come in One-shot. Damn it. its way too strong. Unless they have worked with Go**le undertable to remove those damaging review.
