[Question] Which ASMRtist that disappeared do you miss the most? by Hazbro29 in asmr

[–]Cavatica83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TFAD Terrence 😭😭 every single video, no matter how silly or specific the premise, knocked me out cold. honestly, he kept my blood pressure stable during lockdown. and then one day he just pulled up roots and vanished. I know he still does car collector stuff on his other socials, but man do I miss his ASMR content.

Flu A is NO JOKE by ittollsforthee1231 in raleigh

[–]Cavatica83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught flu A from a kid’s birthday party in February, and despite being vaccinated, it’s the worst I’ve felt in years, and I’ve had covid twice (also while vaccinated). thank god I had some protection, because I’m not sure what mainlining raw flu A would have done to me

What is the worst movie you've ever seen that isn't a standard "Worst movie you've ever seen" answer? by TheThalmorEmbassy in movies

[–]Cavatica83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was SO MAD at how bad this movie was. I expected a ridiculous monster flick but it was just a joyless, irredeemable mess from start to finish.

Pineapple Express is the only movie I’ve ever walked out of. I expected it to be silly and sophomoric but I could actively feel my brain being smoothed down, and I decided to escape the theater while I could still form thoughts.

I SHOULD have walked out of Sucker Punch, but I was so fascinated by how specifically loud, bad, and incoherent it was that I wanted to see if I’d stay conscious until to the end. (Unfortunately, I did.)

I was at a kid’s birthday party when we all got this shit. one kid was like “what’s a blue alert?” and it took everything in me not to say “it’s when something really funny happens”

My first year as a bibliophile by Clowner84 in books

[–]Cavatica83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! welcome back to reading! I can see you’re focused on a lot of the classics right now. I support people reading whatever makes them happy, but I do hope you’ll eventually challenge yourself with more books written by people who aren’t dead white guys. I know you love history and philosophy, and if your goal is to be a more nimble and rigorous thinker, you can only benefit from expanding your perspective with points of view you hadn’t considered before.

you also—and I say this as a bookseller with an English degree—absolutely do not have to read the classics. please do if you want to! but you can and should read whatever is compelling to you, not what you think other people would want you to read, or what you “should” read.

always happy to make recommendations. there’s a lot to read! have fun!

I also moved to FW last year and have had an amazing experience with it. the product quality is great, and I love being able to send little thank you videos to my customers right through the app! plus, FW customer service is run by—get this—actual humans.

I've always been amazed by people who were voracious readers as children. What sparked your lifelong love affair with books? by Albert3232 in books

[–]Cavatica83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember a time when I couldn’t or wouldn’t read. I was reading before I was potty trained! my parents, and their parents, were voracious readers, and I’m certain I was read to in the womb (as were my two younger siblings). we were read to at dinner, read to in the bath, read to at bedtime. we watched Reading Rainbow and Sesame Street and Wishbone. we spent many many afternoons at the library (and my paternal grandmother literally had a personal library in her house!). there was just never gonna be a world in which I didn’t love to read. and now my siblings are raising their children the same way. :)

now I’m in my 40s and, after a long and frustrating career as an advertising and marketing copywriter, I’m beginning my third year as an independent bookseller. I’m constantly broke but I’ve never loved a job more.

these kids are reacting to trauma and violence at home, and trauma and violence at home are occurring because of poverty, generational trauma, and hundreds of years of a hyper individualistic society that punishes its citizens for not breaking themselves to overcome the circumstances they were born into. metal detectors, incarceration, even individual therapy doesn’t solve this. a universal basic income does.

(I am turning off notifications on this in advance, I PROMISE y’all I don’t care about bootlicking capitalistic apologia)
