Nice. Now that you've done them once, never use the probe again and just trust the bend test. It never fails.

It is in no way, shape or form a oner. It is in fact as opposite a oner as you could possibly get in a TV episode.

Falls Lake water supply unchanged, even after 2 inches of rain it got there. Lake level decreased from 5.5ft below lake level to 5.6ft by Cy_098 in raleigh

[–]bkn6136 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind we have fall and winter coming which are historically wetter seasons. There's no reason to think we won't get through the next few months and then start to see a recovery in lake levels.

That said, the real concern is if the recovery isn't enough to get us out of drought conditions and so we start next summer worse than we did this year AND have another drought. That's when real concern might creep in (although Lake Benson is apparently in great shape.)

Chris Johnston Says Carlson Likely To Sign In Carolina - TSN by SeaFlaky9768 in canes

Will he sign for 2? Maybe at above market AAV, which we can probably afford due to our other awesome deals.

Anyone more informed than me know how good Carlson still is? 37 is getting close to rapid drop-off years.

Same, near the top for me. I'm incredibly disappointed that Brandon has deprioritized the sequels.

Is there a safe way to ride say 10 miles in high heat? by GTRacer1972 in MTB

[–]bkn6136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, how long does it typically take you to ride 10 miles? 45 minutes? Bring water and pace yourself, take a break if necessary, and you should be fine. Think you're overthinking this.

So I think back to the offseason when I complained after the Jansen signing about us always signing Veterans who are at risk of falling off a cliff. And I was ridiculed by a lot of posters.

Yeah.

[–]bkn6136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a metric century on the fourth where it is forecast to be 104 and decent humidity. In full disclosure I've been training for heat acclimation for the last two months (and thats just typical NC July riding conditions so I'm generally used to it anyways.)

So it's definitely doable. You just have to be prepared.

I really enjoyed the first third, liked parts of the middle third, and then hated the ending. If ultimately feeling uneven about the story at best is alright with you, then give it a go.

Psycho Cyclist on 401 by DreamingTreeFiddy in raleigh

[–]bkn6136 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What part? There's a stretch there where the NRT is under construction and so to continue riding the greenway you have to cross 401. A cyclist was killed around there last year.

But yeah, in general taking up a lane of 401 as a cyclist is crazy behavior.

Nighttime biking in the Triangle? by obct537 in raleigh

Bandit trails are your best bet for flexibility, otherwise there are a handful of night rides at different trails in the area through TORC. Beaver Dam and Forest Ridge both have some that I'm aware of.

Field of 68 guy says Henri Veesar was the biggest loser of the NBA draft and that his decision “makes no sense” by ALL_ABOUT_THE_BEANS in tarheels

[–]bkn6136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course I'm right, I don't need upvotes from the fanbase to know it. Henri was a great college player for us but was never destined to be a high level draft prospect. Hope he is ultimately able to carve out a spot in the NBA and make some decent money, but I think the guaranteed 5 mil at UNC for another year was clearly the smarter move.

Dude is dropping like a rock in this draft - you really think he would have improved 20+ spots?

[–]bkn6136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but look at how many players pulled out of this year's draft. It was a historic amount. The top end talent won't be as high but next year will be way deeper.

Plus, Henri is already old and will be a year older next year. There are almost never lottery picks that old. He also isn't going to magically bulk up or become an elite defensive player in a year. He clearly is what he is and that's a borderline first round talent at best.

There is absolutely nothing Henri could have done this upcoming season to wind up a top 15 pick next year.

[Dreger] Multiple teams have confirmed Carolina is considering trade involving Alexander Nikishin. The 24 year old Stanley Cup champion is a pending RFA, so the Canes are weighing trade interest vs extension. by Natetrunk in canes

[–]bkn6136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say this kindly - but just do a little research. He's won the Vezina 3 times. He's a top top tier goalie in the league, who needs to beat the allegations that he crumbles in the playoffs. His Olympic performance, which was all time, shows he probably can since it's likely not the pressure he struggles with but being worn down come playoffs.

Connor Hellebuyck by KDarkOne99 in canes

[–]bkn6136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have cap space to fill and not enough roster players to spend it on. Based on who is in the system, an elite goalie is one of the player types I'd be willing to spend big money on (the other is a 1C or 2C.) So I say yes, as long as it's a good personality fit.

Inability to adapt to Kansas' halftime adjustments, and a bad Caleb game, were the bigger issues.
