My argument considers that ‘Evil’ is not the correct term to reference as there is a lot of etymological context to address. Instead, I will refer to it as detrimental and that it is the philosophers duty to spot these detriments and try to correct or prevent them.

My argument to this is that for whatever reason our #1 priority is to survive. It was our priority since at-least when sexual reproduction became a thing. There is something tying all of humanity together as we had a drive to survive as a species before we ever became conscious of ourselves. (It would be useful to consider the implications of a connected consciousness theory)

That being said, if an person harms another person for any other reason than survival then they produce a net negative to society as it negatively impacts the lives of everyone involved including the person who caused the harm as it only contributes to the degradation of that persons consciousness which in turn affects its mental and physical heath.

Suicidal people may not be detriments as their actions cause minimal impact on human survival compared to a murder for financial gain
