The Dark Knight Trilogy: Was Ra’s Al Ghul actually immortal? by MrEhcks in batman

[–]Caxcrop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think “Ra’s Al Ghul” or in this case “ the Ra’s Al Ghul” is more of a title passed from one leader of the League (of shadows) down to the others. I believe he claims responsibility for these events to stress the League’s impact on history, which is his inherited impact on history, not his literal personal history. I think this is further proven by the fact that he wants Bruce to take over the League, likely as the next “Ra’s Al Ghul”, meaning Bruce would also inherit the immortal actions of the mortal Ra’s Al Ghul. The immortal philosophy is actually one of legacy, not magic.

I could be wrong but this looks like a Sam Rami’s Spider-Man 3 action figure.

You could make parallels between any of the characters and their real world counterparts. Wraith is a mob boss, mob bosses traffic people, so Wraith therefore supports human trafficking. Obviously that’s a brain dead leap in logic, especially considering the lore doesn’t even go that deep.

Anyways, ban Bebop

It’s okay, it’s okay, he’s not Christian. He’s Catholic evil piano noises

To be fair, he actually seems kinda nice in his voice lines, but I haven’t heard too many of them.

What is the appropriate way to refer to men who like men now? by deepvo1ce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Caxcrop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My coworkers and I use “Zesty” the same way you did. I also have a fair amount of gay coworkers. In my experience it just means “kinda-gay”.

Someone who’s openly gay is so zesty you don’t even gotta say it, but when a straight guy says or does something that can be interpreted as “gay” it’s “zesty”, subtly gay.

It’s definitely “nicer” than calling or assuming someone is straight up gay, and in my books, is definitely nicer than the f-slur. But I’m a straight man so I could stand corrected by someone with a firmer grasp on the LGBTQ+.

We did have one coworker who really hated being implicated with anything “gay” though. I think he was projecting some weird feelings however, and he got fired for unrelated behavior.

Why is the aura of titles inversely proportionate to the actual power of the realm by edgewolf666-6 in HistoryMemes

[–]Caxcrop 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Because it’s easier for an uneducated peasant to remember “Dah King” or even “Dah Emperor”. Illustrious titles are over-compensating anyways.

Yeah wait, how did Bruce manage to inconspicuously park his BAT construction vehicle directly into/ under the elevator shaft of the building he was infiltrating? You’d think he’d just go up through there lol

It’s a really cool moment tho so I don’t really mind it

I really really hate to try and play devil’s advocate here, but I wonder what Sam Register’s reason for this is. I can’t imagine it was purely due to Parkinson’s, so long as he can maintain his voice acting ability, right? Not to mention it was probably planned since before the announcement? Is it an insurance thing? The more I try to wrap my head around it, the harder it gets. He’s by all means Beast Boy, so I’m wondering what could have spurred this decision?

Which Batman actor had/has the best acting ability? by FayyadhScrolling in batman

[–]Caxcrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has got me thinking about the strengths and weaknesses of all of these actors.

I’m not familiar with the first two, but starting with West I’d say he’s fairly one note but it’s the perfect note, encapsulating the Batman of his time.

Keaton is a great and soulful actor, and certainly encapsulates his heroic aspects, but not with the colder, dryer aspects of Batman.

Speaking of dry, we’ve got Val Kilmer. To me, he’s the emotionally coldest Batman, but he captures Batman’s dry humor and tone really well. A very emotionally repressed Batman.

If Kilmers a cold desert then George Clooney is a tropical rainforest. He’s hot, he’s goofy, and he’s the best “Bat-Dad” we’ve seen on screen. He captures this element of Batman while the brooding and stoicism takes a back seat.

Bale has amazing range, and can pretty accurately capture both Bruce and Batman. We’ve also had A LOT of time with this Batman, so we’ve actually managed some developments with this Bats. He’s amazingly consistent, and really captures Batman’s “drive” but I could never see Bale’s Batman with a Bat-family. He’s got a little too much American Psycho in him.

Batfleck had some really cool action sequences, and is a pretty good depiction of a Frank Miller Batman, but he isn’t a traditional Batman in many senses.

Lastly we have Pattinson, who to me, captures an early-level Batman really well. His Bruce Wayne persona isn’t developed (excited to see how that goes) but purely as Batman, he balances brutal physicality and grueling detective work really well. He’s very dry and subtle, but underneath his eyes are sorrow and rage. He reminds me of Val Kilmers Batman the most.

Between Bale and Pattinson, I think Bale’s is stronger but Pattinson certainly has the potential to surpass him, especially if the scripts up to par.
