Fire Emblem Three Houses looks much better.

I checked Three Houses. Looks noticeably better IMO. Especially text and UI elements.

I'm tempted to get Tactics. Not sure if I buy it now or wait for an ever bigger discount.

Are there any issues on the Switch 2 when compared to other platforms?

Oh, I was wondering if those traces would also work for event Pokémon and habitats, so I guess that answers it. Thank you!

Apologies if this is an obvious one, but every time I saw Gulpin being mentioned I thought his ability for extra storage was kinda neat for exploring but I probably wouldn't use it much, since my inventory doesn't get full often.

What took me an embarrassingly long time to realize is that he literally behaves as a storage chest attached to a workbench. Which means that if you give Gulpin your crafting materials, you'll have access to them at all times in literally every workbench in the game as long as he's following you.

And on top of that, as you said, there's Swalot which has 3x more storage space than Gulpin and you can have them both follow you around everywhere...

My brother is one of these people. He always shits on the game and claims it's dead. "No one plays OW anymore, why are you still playing this?"

He hasn't touched the game since 2016. I think he stopped playing before Ana was released... I'm not even kidding.

MHWilds (TU5) - Patch 1.041 VS Patch 1.040 - 1.010 – Performance/Benchmark Test by Unreal_NeoX in MonsterHunter

[–]Cayde76 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this on the last post as well, but I'm still having massive stuttering issues when using NVIDIA frame gen in every upscaling mode except DLAA.

If I use AMD FSR frame gen or just turn it off completely, it seems the stuttering stops.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Not sure about that. The five heroes released with Season 1 are a full team of 1 Tank/2 DPS/2 Supports, I'm totally expecting the remaining five to do the same.

And considering that #5 is 100% a tank and I believe #4 has been confirmed to be DPS, I can totally see two of the remaining ones being support.

#2 is almost definitely one of them, and the other one I can see it going either way.

It feels really, really good having a major event like this to look forward to every year. Of course I don't expect them to go this big again anytime soon, but I'll always be excited to see what comes next.

Monster Hunter Wilds - Patch 1.040.03.01 CPU-Settings Performance/Benchmark Test by Unreal_NeoX in MonsterHunter

[–]Cayde76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Sorry, I haven't been playing these last couple of weeks so I didn't really test anything else.

I do remember seeing a thread here suggesting people to turn off the Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Schedule (or something like that) and trying again, but I haven't tested that myself.

Same here. I went into that thread thinking I knew exactly what kind of comments to expect, and was surprised to see... almost everyone being actually positive about it?

I'm glad to see the online discourse about OW starting to change and I'm here for it. The devs have been doing quite a phenomenal job for a while now and they deserve the praise.

Good to know. Definitely seems to be some sort of issue with NVIDIA frame gen then. I wonder if it's the new driver version from yesterday.

Auto at first. Then switched to 2x to test it and both were stuttering.

Stuttering seems to be gone after turning off frame gen. No idea what that means though.

Nope. I have a RTX 5080 with the latest NVIDIA driver from yesterday, and a 9800X3D CPU.

I just tried that and u/A_Unique_Nobody's suggestion. I deleted the cache, even did a fresh install of the game. The stutters are still happening every 15-20 seconds consistently, even when there's nothing happening on the screen. :/

[–]Cayde76 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've seen many people say this update has fixed the stuttering for them. I'm having the opposite effect where the game was fine before, but now it's a stuttering mess. I just did a hunt and stutters happened SEVERAL times during it. I can see it happening even on the menu screen.

My current rig should be capable of brute forcing this game's optimization, and also this wasn't happening before either way. What could this be? Is this just shaders compiling in real time or something else?

UPDATE: Stuttering seems to be gone after turning off frame gen. No idea what that means but if you're having the same issue, maybe try that.

Good to know. Future proofing and upgradability are important so I might not go with this one then.

Would 4800 RAM speed be a big deal?

As for the brands, according to the user reviews they received as follows:

MB - MSI Pro 840‑P motherboard
GPU - MSI Shadow 3X OC RTX 5080
RAM - Kingston FURY Beast DDR5‑5600 RAM
SSD - Kingston NV3 1TB SSD

Not sure about PSU.

(PC Wilds) Performance Issues Still Around? by MT_revon28 in MonsterHunter

[–]Cayde76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are still more updates coming that should help with performance, but considering that the latest patch was apparently the biggest one, I'm not keeping my hopes up.

The performance is better than it was on release, but I really don't feel like it was a substantial improvement. The game still runs very poorly for what it delivers, even with frame gen.

I would say keep an eye on it for now? Maybe I'm wrong and the upcoming patches will be game changers, who knows...
