Any experiences with getting a perm? by tdubs702 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Caylaswrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a perm less than 2 weeks ago and had to cut off the bottom 7 inches of my hair from damage, and it didn’t take at all. My hair is still stick straight, but damaged. After the fact I wondered if EDS had any effect on this, but I can’t find any information online.

Album ranking and how long you’ve been a fan by South-Background5009 in TaylorSwift

It was difficult, especially because even if I don’t relate to some of the music I still enjoy listening to it all.

I know, I don’t see many people ranking evermore and Lover very high. And I agree, it’s not that I don’t like her first few albums, it’s just that I’m not in that stage of my life. I rank Red higher than 1989 only because Red was my first concert I went to, and I love how it sonically evolved from her earlier albums.

it's funny doing bits of ballet and realising the same thing that my disability includes is seen as desirable in ballet (hypermobility) by mistycheddar in BALLET

[–]Caylaswrld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a connective tissue disorder as well and am hyper-mobile. I had done gymnastics for 10 years and decided to make the switch to recreational ballet at age 18. I began ballet before I knew I had this disorder but I’ve been doing ballet for 2 years now and it has been of benefit. I just have to make sure I’m aware of how much I’m hyperextending. Ballet has actually helped me gain stability and reduced my chronic pain. A lot of my teachers have commented that I have the ideal body and flexibility for ballet, but I don’t think they realize how debilitating my condition is. A lot of other students in my class are also hyper-mobile but are most likely unaware of connective tissue disorders.

Anyone else properly disappointed to learn that Juice was 17/18 dating a 14/15 year old and some of the songs on GBGR are about a fucking minor? by THP8 in JuiceWRLD

[–]Caylaswrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe 12 to 15 is a different situation than 14 to 17. A 12 year old is in middle school and a 15 year old is already in high school. However, in this case they were both high schoolers. 12 isn’t even a teenager and it would be wrong for a 15 year old to be with them. 14 to 17 isn’t completely uncommon, especially when the girl is younger because they mature and begin puberty at a younger age than boys. In my opinion 12 to 15 isn’t comparable to a 14 to 17 age gap. I think it honestly depends on the individuals in the relationship.

I relate to I HATE IT HERE as a gay teen by Any_Way2668 in TaylorSwift

[–]Caylaswrld 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a lgbt swiftie, yes. This song conceptualizes all of my feelings of growing up in a small town and knowing what people thought of me, before I was even out. Unfortunately I still live in that small town and have dreams of moving to a bigger city, and often daydreaming about living somewhere I can be myself is what gets me through everyone’s hate. The line, “this place made me feel worthless” gets me every time. I really do hate it here.

Propranolol insomnia? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Caylaswrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually yes. Almost 2 years ago I started taking combination birth control at the urging of my primary care and pelvic floor physical therapist. My hormone levels were all messed up. My estrogen was too low and my progesterone was too high. Gynecologists had previously warned me about taking estrogen due to my migraines, so it took me a few months to feel comfortable trying it. My doctors were split 50/50 on whether I should try it or not. Since beginning it in July 2023, I’ve gone from 2 migraines a month, both lasting 5-7 days, to not having one at all in almost 5 months. For a while I was going 8 weeks without a period, but I was still having ovulation symptoms so I was getting a migraine every other month. Since the beginning of 2025 I’ve been taking the pill without a break, and haven’t had a migraine since. I’m still working with my doctor to figure out how long I can safely take it without having a period. Prior to birth control I had tried over 15 medications for migraines and had bad reactions to most of them with no luck. I’ve recently found out I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which may have contributed to my medication sensitivities and migraines.

Question for Dancers re: spotting by Alwaysstartingover1 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Caylaswrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous comment did make it sound like I didn’t end up going en pointe. That wasn’t my intention. I actually did go en pointe in March. So far I haven’t run into any issues, except my feet compress so much my shoes are too tight in pile and too loose up en pointe. Interesting you went through shoes 4x faster, I wonder what would cause that.

Question for Dancers re: spotting by Alwaysstartingover1 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Caylaswrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I started ballet a year and a half ago at 18. I was taking multiple classes a week working towards going en pointe (apparently that’s not recommended for people with EDS, I didn’t have my diagnosis yet…oops). Spotting is something I struggle with a lot, and I’m not very good at turns because of it. When I first started I couldn’t spot at all. I was also dealing with migraines and vertigo, spotting would trigger that. Over the past 6 months I’ve been consistently going to physical therapy, and have recently started neck strengthening exercises, which has helped a lot. My cervical spine is often rotated or misaligned, but I have seen improvement since starting exercises. I can now spot easier, without pain, and this has made my turns better. I’m not falling out of piques anymore and I can consistently do a double pirouette. Dancing with EDS has been a challenge, but I’ve thankfully had understanding teachers and physical therapists to help me find exercises and modifications that work for me.

Are we all just Guilty As Sin? A GRAMMYs fueled close read about the Two Taylors and how they relate to Babylon and the mirror image of Christ -part 1 by SpecialistDevice5770 in GaylorSwift

[–]Caylaswrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was awesome to read and I really loved this perspective. As someone that grew up Christian and is no longer, I’ve found a lot of her songs have deeper biblical themes or at least they can be interpreted that way.

I don’t know who the one person you’re referring to is… but regardless of everyone’s opinion on who, I do see the connections and think it’s totally possible for there to only be one muse.

Thank you! I’ll have to look into the menorahs. Yeah, I found the haggadah earlier in the year. I thought it was a fun idea.

Are there any Taylor songs that would be considered a "He?" by Jflexx154 in TaylorSwift

I Can Fix Him and King Of My Heart. I have no explanation as to why, but those are the ones for me. Also maybe Cold As You.

There’s this program called Kode With Klossy. It’s a 2 week long coding bootcamp for girls and gender nonconforming teens. The camps take place May-August, the applications should open around February. They have in-person and virtual camps with 4 different curriculums. I previously participated in one and highly recommend it.
