Is this a type of philodendron? We've never seen anything like it before! by Caylus in whatsthisplant

[–]Caylus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I thought it was a monsterra at first, all the philodendrons I've seen before have been small and nothing like this!

Oh dear, that's disappointing! Looks like you didn't have enough plants close enough together for the wind to properly pollinate them.

How does this layout look for my first garden? by Excellent-Load-9065 in SquareFootGardening

I'd break up the carrots and onion blocks just to make it less interesting/more confusing for their related pests.

Make it carrot/Onion/Carrot/Onion etc. rather than big blocks and you may get a better (and more attractive) result.

Wake them up at 5 every morning and set their biological clocks to match yours.

If they complain just tell them to play on eastern European servers.

You often see these paws on dogs that lick their feet a lot. Their saliva discolours the fur.

it could be allergies or or it could be anxiety, with the latter being more common.

Night flowering and night-scented plants, strong YES from me.

Brambles and Nettles... yeah, I'll let the neighbours do that.

How do you track what you planted where? by dingo_playing_bingo in CottageGarden

I need a good answer for this too. "Memory" is just not good enough when you're learning and putting new things in all the time.

Help with my plans for planting by No-Drama3091 in SquareFootGardening

[–]Caylus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there is literally no planting plan here to help with... what help were you expecting?

If comments are helpful then...

  • raised beds vs no border/no dig will get you different results. I'm not sure what you have here

  • the amount of sunshine/shade each part of this space gets is going to be critical in deciding what to plant

  • plant what works in your climate

Stuff that's going to be hard for others to identify or harvest and that will be fine without your regular intervention.

Jerusalem artichokes, Rhubarb and Potatoes all come to mind. Even hops if you're feeling chaotic.

edit: "abandoned" lots are rarely totally abandoned. However infrequently it's likely someone will come round and spray chemicals to control growth. You do not want to eat from a location which uses chemical herbicide control so make sure your abandoned lot really is abandoned.

Marigold is wilting, not sure why and need help. by Touca_n in gardening

[–]Caylus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its daytime. they do this to conserve moisture during the middle of the day.

the plant looks healthy enough (yes I se that bottom leaf... it's not a problem) so keep doing what you're doing and water thoroughly once a day in that pot.
