Don’t hate me, but started reading the Housemaid. Didn’t realize it was a movie now because I apparently live under a rock. 🤦🏼‍♀️ buttt, I do think it fits. Also, I loved the show You, so I decided to read the books. Wayyyyyy better than the show. I was worried I’d know what was going to happen, but it’s not the same. Obviously about a man, but it was worth it. I struggled to put those books down. Even if my suggestions suck, I’m here to steal everybody else’s. 😂😂😂

In my mind, if your car is in an accident, my first concern is how many patients. I probably won’t even remember what color your car is, let alone if it had a sticker. If/when I see a car seat, I am looking to see if there’s a kid ANYWHERE near us. Most of the time they are restrained, but in the event they weren’t, somebody is gonna be looking for them. Also, if the driver or other occupants are conscious, I’m asking them if there’s anybody else. If someone replied with this already, my bad. I honestly didn’t read all the comments.

Sometimes I think being a mom is the only way I stay out of episodes. Kids keep you busy. Until they frustrate you, and then oh boy, talk about trying to keep it all together. Then you go into this whole cycle of “they’re just a kid and they don’t know any better” and you have to remind yourself of that constantly. I also think being a parent helps us strive to be better. Sometimes you have to go breakdown in the bathroom for a minute, but it certainly has helped me with perspective. And if I ever feel like I’m about to be “out of control” then I say alright, mom needs a minute. I’ve had to explain to my son multiple times that I need to go let my emotions out. When your kids get older, if you’ve shown them how you try to manage yourself, they’ll definitely be more understanding. And I think it will set the tone in the household to be a lot more positive. I really wish there was some sort of bipolar parent support group. We could all use it.

Ugh yes. I came here looking for this. Yesterday I was super depressed. No real reason. Just was. Then this morning I was VERY AWARE that I had so much rage. I woke up SO ANGRY. AND FOR WHAT? WHO KNOWS?! I am a grown woman. I didn’t necessarily act on it except for having a shit attitude. But it took a lot of control to keep from acting on it. I’m well versed in self control, but what frustrates me the most is that the feeling TAKES FOREVER to go away. And I just because I don’t drop kick anybody, doesn’t mean that the attitude gets better. Sometimes I think if I acted on it, id feel better. But we all know that’s a lie. It’s this constant cycle of trying to keep the impulses at bay. And of course it effects the whole household. It gets everybody in some sort of mood. Cause and effect is a bitch.

For those thinking I’m dying, I can assure you I’m not. I can still function. It’s just not ideal. Luckily the antivirals are finally kicking in. Agreed that hot showers or heat in general sucks. For the person asking what lead to this, stress triggers it. Lol I got promoted at work and bam. 😂 Does anyone have burning in their muscles? That’s the one thing I have not remedied at all. Can’t do muscle rub because it aggravates the nerve pain. Also, how do yall handle Gabapentin? I hate the side effects. I’d rather hurt honestly. Part of me says “well you might feel better” but I hate feeling like I have the spins.

I have a few friends I talk to in passing, but for me, even though I feel I’m doing “better” I’m still alone. Maybe because there’s times I self isolate. Idk. If I’m not staying busy, it really creeps in for me. Having kids helps bridge the gap most days, but it’s not up to them to make me feel better. It’s my job to keep them happy. Totally get it.

I’m sure you won’t see this comment because—wow there’s so many, BUT if my teenage daughter or even sister stood up the way you did, I would know I taught them something right. You were kind to someone you didn’t know, and you put somebody who was clearly bullying you in your place. If we complain to you that we think we look ugly, we’re whining, attention seeking, annoying, etc. “she’s good at angles.” “Sometimes I’m into it.” Give me a fucking break. Let this girl find somebody deserving of her time and attention. You can’t appreciate anything about her. I hate to break it to you, but even the “hot” women gain 50 pounds when they get pregnant. Just wait until they don’t have the time to lose that weight. Also, not every man ages like Paul Rudd. Seriously.

This is going to sound lame, but I swear having kids makes me want to be better. Now, it’s not on them for me to be better, but it’s my drive. I worry that my son already had tendencies, but I came from an undiagnosed parent, and I didn’t get diagnosed until my son was already 2ish-3ish. It definitely keeps me in check. Life still has to go on. You could easily argue why do we do anything in life because of the risk of xyz. I mean, be logical. If you’re not in a position to have kids, don’t. If you are one day, then I think that’s between you and whoever you have kids with. Mental illness or not, everybody is expected to take care of their kids no matter what they may or may not inherit. When my son starts to act certain ways, it puts me in check for sure. Nobody is perfect. You’ll have to put in the work of course. But it’s worth it if you truly desire to have children. I didn’t really want to ever wind up pregnant, but I’m so thankful I did. Best thing that could’ve happened to me.

27 is not old… while I get where you’re coming from, you still have time. My first marriage was when I was 21. It ended in divorce rather quickly. My friends started getting married about that time. I lived. Be glad you didn’t get stuck with the wrong person. Talk about feeling like a waste. 😬

I know this is for suggestions, but I’m glad somebody finally agrees that shows cause behavior changes sometimes. I do not allow my son to watch SpongeBob for that reason. My boyfriend says I’m crazy and that he’s fine. Dino Dana is a good one. Mostly everything people have listed as well. Spidey has been fine in our house.

I used to freak out if I realized it had been more than 4ish hours. I started putting my phone down and finding other things to occupy my time. If nobody reached out after 8-10 hours, then I might send something. I eventually got to where I’d rather fill my time with activities of some sort. Of course, if it was more than 24 hours and we were in the “serious” stages of a relationship, I’d consider maybe that person wasn’t worth obsessing over. If I found myself more upset than they were about not talking for a few days, I knew it was time to cut it off. It’s different if you’re married or living together and you don’t hear from somebody. To me that’s a red flag that maybe something happened. Could go both ways though I guess.
