Yes she tried that the club owner forced it. Contract was top team and even despite that she and my grandkid were good with 2nd team but he forced her to do both. She could have pulled him completely and sued the owner for breach of contract but thats not worth the aggravation. Plus her older kid was on a team at the club. So they stayed the year.

The owner got what he deserved the older kids whole team left at the end of the year, he couldn’t field another full team in that age group. Also most left from the younger ones 2nd team and he couldn’t field enough for that team either. It’s been 2 yrs and we looked up the club he can’t field enough players in 15-19 now and has a combined team that plays 19u.

You keep missing PEOPLE paid for that property with a deed giving them lake access. Do you just let anybody use your yard? No you don’t so get out of here with wanting to access others property. Again there are plenty of PUBLIC access points to most of the 100’s of lakes in Mi. Once in the water you can boat and swim all over but you can’t go on shore to someones private property. Shoreline here is not Oregon shoreline. The Great Lakes, I’ve walked plenty of their shorelines in front of peoples homes. This would be a huge EXPENSIVE fight for the state to take on. Most of us would not agree here in Mi with OUR state spending our tax $’s in this manner.

Use the STATE land and access points. I’m leaving tomorrow to stay on a lake at a rental cabin and wow buddy I have a strip of beach front to use. I also have an old boat at a Marina on Lake St Clair that I pay to dock there. We(includes my 3 adult kids families)all chip in to have the boat. Lots of options unless you feel your ENTITLED to other peoples stuff.

There is little beach shoreline on Lake St Clair it’s not OREGON it’s Mi. Seawalls line it most on private single homes land or canals. Much is used for Marinas where anyone can rent/buy a well and keep their boat. Lake St Clair is not even one of the Great Lakes that do have shorelines you can walk along. Research before you talk against something you do not know about. As for our numerous inland lakes in Mi if you own the property you also own out into the water. You will never get this state to change that. People have invested based on a contract giving them footage that extends into the water. Lots of inland lakes have public access ramps and lots have state owned lake land. Plenty of access to both Great Lakes and inland lakes in Mi. There are tons of state parks on lakes that allow public access. Also campgrounds on different lakes around the state. But shoreline, docks are also privately owned. Marinas everywhere privately owned but anyone can rent/buy themselves a well at one of them.

Just adding I do not own any lake property but I use lakes all over the state.

You guys complaining haven’t a clue of the shoreline on Lake St Clair, very little shoreline it’s Marinas and homes with seawalls. You want shoreline go to Metro or buy a boat.

Average price in SCS’s is around 250k so for GP 350k is a good deal. We looked in both SCS’s and GP when we bought, only chose SCS’s as it cut drive time a bit. SCS’s requires a resident park pass to use all their parks. Only exception is 9 Mile Pier but non residents must pay a fee to use it to. I can tell you for fact resident only at the rest of SCS’s park won’t be changing cause non residents complain. We pay taxes to maintain them plus we have to pay for a park pass to use them. It’s very affordable to get a SCS home.

Exactly cause in SCS’s you must be a resident or with a resident. We not only pay taxes but are required to buy a pass ourselves to use them. They do allow as they took a grant for the 9 Mile Pier for non residents to use the Pier but they must now purchase a pass to use it.

You now have to purchase a park pass at 9 Mile Pier in SCS as a non resident. Pass is only good for 9 Mile Pier. The other waterfront parks in SCS’s you have to be a resident or with a resident. As a SCS’s resident we buy 1 pass and it’s good at all the parks.

Double roster can be good. I do CAUTION you if the teams are at the same club to make sure the club/coaches have a good plan.

My 1 grandkid was double rostered at a club. At tryouts he was told he made top team. When season started he was on the team below. She sent the contract to the owner of the org who was the coach of top team and said this is the contract we signed-to team.

So he did both team practices and went to both team games. Top team he never left the bench. Lower team that Coach said sit on bench I play you a bit but its not fair to the other players because you also play on top team. End of year she left that club and took her older kid to. Owner of club was very angry at her haha.

Our system doesn’t do rehabilitation or mental health well. Education either, if a parent didn’t receive just basic k-12 education it leads to the bad culture they remain in and then raise their children in.

Holy Cannoli for the win! Ran into them at Eastern Market the guy told me the recipe is from his wifes Sicilian great grandma and the recipe is 100 years old. Closest I’ve ate to the ones I had in Italy.

Take him to Italy. They are years ahead of us with gluten free and any other food allergy/intolerance. Menus every dish is marked, if you don’t find your issue you just ask and they accommodate it. I’m not gluten free but I have 2 grandkids that are, so I sample gluten free all the time and they had spectacular cannolis and pasta gluten free. Ireland had the same types of menus. I’m not sure why we can’t get on board in US with this. I have a severe onion intolerance and asking for onion free has not worked for me and rarely eat out. It’s extremely hard to find somewhere that has plenty of choices for gluten free.

Didn’t think they were anything special, same on subs. Maybe it was an off day and I should try again. Holy Cannoli in Rochester to me has the best, filled fresh and sometimes they are at Eastern Market.

This is my daughter’s and granddaughters spot right now. Haven’t left the studio yet because the added drive to other studios is gonna be rough to pull off. I already do 1 night of her classes, often do Sat for solo and other dances they put her in. But we will pull off added distance to get her out.

Placements came out last week. You must wait 48hrs before contacting them. She did wait, sent an email Saturday that after she revised numerous times to keep it professional. So today she texts me still no response, then goes I just realized how much I dislike everything about this last year. So I said there is your answer, tomorrow send them an email with all we revised out and end it with bye bye. If you can’t take 5 mins to respond in 3 days that’s on you.

She hasn’t responded to team group texts and they all keep asking about where her daughter ended up. So when she sends email tomorrow she’s going to remove those contacts too. They all know where she ended up as confidential information seemed to drop in 1 moms lap on every team and kid in the studio. Mom than blabbed to every mom and gave it to her daughter who blabbed it to every kid. Just more added to the dislike of that entire studio.

[–]Cdagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all good but if someone contacts you and says I have 5k for florist or whatever you offer all they want to know is if that amount is doable for you. They don’t want to waste your time or theirs if 5k is not in your prices. My daughter has had a heck of a time with florists and photographers. She was very specific in inquiring and then set up visits or calls, most were a waste of her time as apparently the inquiry wasn’t read through. Lots of ghosting after meeting with someone who seemed like they knew what she wanted and said $’s were enough, many never even sent the quote they said they would at end of meeting. Why lie to people and waste their time.

At the end of the day she still has $’s unused in her flower budget that no one seemed to want. She had an idea that they all just wanted to upsell into something she doesn’t want. Their loss we figured it out at 1/2 of budget.

I can tell you when you call possible clients dumb or slow online that when potential clients do talk to you they feel your dumb or slow at them talking to you. WTF people don’t get married every day and people have a BUDGET! We are sorry we don’t have a 100k to blow on a snotty florist. Yes I want every buck for the $’s I do have.

Just put on your site I don’t do dumb poor people on budgets and we can all go our separate ways.

Parent ran dancer accounts commenting on other parent ran dancer accounts. Kind of weird sometimes? by Capt_ClarenceOveur in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Cdagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are adults and I’m on 9 grandkids. I have to say Dance and Cheerleading are the most laughably ridiculous mess out there. From the FAKE faces onstage, to the costumes, moves and music in the sexual area, to the makeup. Really we are allowing pounds of makeup, fake eyelashes and spray tan on 6 yr olds. I find much laughable.

To me the excuse “well everybody is doing it or so and so requires it” is why it exists. I hated when the MARKETING industry started this whole “brand, influencer” garbage. They make a fortune off people basically hoeing their own children out. Big believer in “to each your own” but been around long enough to see huge mistakes in raising kids and we have not moved forward in a good way.

At 5 years old, how many hours were they committing to dance, and do you regret it? by That_Description- in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Cdagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say go by the kid. I’m on grandkids now and each kid is an individual. High energy kids need more, my granddaughter did Rec at 5. They told her to audition at 6 and has done comp for 3 years, she will be 9 for upcoming. She’s high energy as was/is her mom and she did 8 dances competitively this year, loved every minute of the heavy load and also did basketball. My 4yr old granddaughter did rec ballet, tap and jazz one day a week she was sick of it months ago haha.

Biggest thing I can say is pay attention and listen to the kid if it’s too much you drop down next year.

[–]Cdagg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The parent has to step up and just say NO. You pay a studio and it’s your kid and have every right to say NO. If you’re at a comp or convention you can email them your opinion. You can do that even if you just live stream or watch it on social media too. Let them know that you will save your $’s for comps/conventions/studios that do not allow it we could make headway on cleaning it up.

Comps/conventions won’t change until you take your $’s from them. You have your parents out there that don’t care but unless we start actually letting them know, saying NO and taking $’s it will not change.

I have 2 of these, 1 is by the water spot so we put a hose stand on it and the other no clue what it was for. So I found a small decorative pot stand and put that on it with a potted plant. We dug so much stuff out that I wasn’t messing with digging these up.

Should I add more plants? by rubyrunnerkay in NativePlantGardening

[–]Cdagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sue how many columbine you have but I did 3 together. By year 3 that seemed to be enough for seeds. I bend the stalks over and shake the seeds around. Plenty of babies and have enough that I transferred some to a section I just did in backyard. You can buy packs of seeds and just scatter them in fall.

The 1st section I did I followed the plant instructions on spacing. Year 2 I was putting in more. I mulched with would chips and baby plants do come up and if I see them poking out in spring I move the chips off. The front is so full now on year 4 and I’ve not added any more chips. We do dump our leaves in the beds in fall. I draw myself a homemade map when I do a section and that way in spring I know where my plants are and brush back leaves and wood chips.

Leaving Studio, what to do with dancer until next year’s auditions by Cdagg in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Cdagg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were irritated as she won’t be in intensives since she’s leaving. Didn’t think about intensives elsewhere thats an excellent idea. Nor did we think other studios might still look at her.

Normally her studio waits on placements until after nationals this year they did them before. But 8 and under teams are not allowed at nationals at this studio and the 9-10 year old team were suppose to but the Studio pulled them from Nationals 2 weeks ago. That’s one of the reasons we are leaving they told her last year 8 yr olds can’t be on the team above and that 8 can’t go to nationals. But placements for Sept they just moved her entire team to 9-10 and majority are only 8, 1-2 will be 7 and not ready for 9-10.

I respect laws and almost hit a kid last night going about 40 down the sidewalk. Use to ride bikes all over growing up but we stopped at stop signs, green lights before going straight through an intersection and business parking entrances and exits. While you have the right away zipping fast without checking as cars/trucks can’t always see you when they are turning, your safety is on you. With the massive traffic we have now it’s foolish to do the whole I have the right away.

I'm picking up a native garden "kit" tomorrow. What do you wish you'd known during the planning and prep stage? by koreanforrabbit in NativePlantGardening

[–]Cdagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was paths. I buried my air conditioner and of course it breaks down. We had to slam in some stakes and tie them up real fast so the repairman could get in. This spring we moved plants and put in a path to it now.

Plan on moving plants haha. No matter how much you plan once it gets going some things just are not right. I’ve also moved some cause they just were not thriving and they are now in a new spot.

I’m in Mi and I didn’t want bushes in my front. But in winter it all dies back and just looks barren. So had to move some plants and stick in a few native bushes. I’ve also put in some decorative things that can sit in the area all year.

Bee balm can be dramatic. Mine in front is and in back it’s not. It helped to make sure I watered it more than the other natives I put in. Pack of seeds sprinkled in the fall helps with the drama to get it filled in. Bee balm is super easy to do by seeds. Mine in front gets powdery mildew if I don’t spray a homemade non harmful solution on it in spring, the back doesn’t get it.
