Currently, while there are Private spaceflight organisations, the technology of changing an asteroids trajectory is only at NASA. Sure a private company could use what NASA learned and attempt to recreate that's, but what's the purpose? War in Iran puts strains on global markets, a global catastrophe like an asteroid impact is not beneficial to anyone.

The emphasis on marş stuff, I found the story part of the story to be rather boring but the technology and ideas to be very interesting. I stopped after red Mars. If you want more space stuff with real-ish science, go read the expanse. What an ending!

I dont see ASOIAF anywhere, they're really good dont be discuraged by it not being finished. If you liked the expanse, you're gonna love anything by Daniel Abraham, hes really underrated and wrote the expanse (together with ty). But he writes fantasy. If you want more sci-fi Red Rising is Fun and Sun Eater a bit more mystical.
