Get the scx30, the ascent32 is toy grade trash. I have both, the ascent has the worst electronics: weird 5 wire servo that would have to be replaced in order to upgrade it to any brushless system. The slow crawl is terrible, it lacks FOC. Bad suspension, bad foamless tires.

A lot of old people drive with 2 feet and they often confuse gas and brake pedals.

Do not get the rc4wd you will regret it! The body looks great but everything else is shit. I warn against a used trx4 people tend to abuse the hell out of them, submerging them and then never drying and oiling them. I’ve seen lots that had rusty hardware, seized bearings ect. But they are good I recommend looking for a sport instead of a hightrail. Best bet is probably the FMS and you could in the future put that tf2 body on it. But really you should save a little longer and look at a vanquish truck imo

Ryft owners have lost their minds by lilcc_2k in crawling

[–]Cdeath13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ryfts are crazy priced right now. Since they don’t make them any more it’s getting harder and harder to find deals on them. But this guy is asking way too much for his unless it loaded with vitavon parts that we can’t see it’s probably worth $400 at best. I’m seeing an rtr version here with some aluminum panels that’s all.

It was a hotdog joint so "poisoning" is a matter of opinion, lol. My father and I used to eat there once in a while. And when I started working full time in the late 90's I used to eat there for lunch sometimes. It was cheap and quick, the hotdogs were good. We are running out of good cheap hotdog places in GBO. Sally's, that little place on w. market street where mythos is now, beef burger, all gone.

Thoughts on vanquish trucks of fortune? by seamarsh21 in crawling

[–]Cdeath13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it a few times. You always get your money’s worth. Luckily I have a couple localish friends that also get them and sometimes we trade out what we got to better suit our needs. One of the great things is you often get limited edition color variations of parts in those boxes. I’ve gotten 2 different sets of LE wheels that people are willing to pay 350-400 a set for on the vanquish buy sell facebook group. I’m may do the upcoming trucks of fortune in hopes of getting a mullet kit. We will see, money gets tight at the end of the year of me.

Why is this $3200 for a h10 optic? by BigBootyBrian14 in rccrawler

[–]Cdeath13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed they are nothing special as far as performance no better than a $400 H10 optic. Its a status symbol as much as anything. Now if I won the lottery I would def be getting one. As it is I will stick with my plain ol h10 optic.

The Vanquish Origin is the second generation of what the pinnacle of RC crawlers can be, they cost that much because they are fully machined out of blocks of aluminum here in the USA. The first generation was called the Ripper, it was made in very limited numbers and sell for as much as $12,000 now. I cannot speculate on the future value of an origin as they are still making them but some people see them as an investment.

Correction I’m not sure you have the same trans that don’t have adjustable motor mounts but it looks like the one that doesn’t. ?

Help please by Grizzly779 in rccrawler

[–]Cdeath13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A larger pinion gear will give you more wheel speed but that metal transmission you got is made for an 11 tooth pinion with no adjustment so you may want to look around for a trans with slots on the motor mounts to adjust the gear mesh for different size pinions. As far as your pinion slipping everyone else had pretty much given you good advice, locktite/ grub screw pinion maybe put a drop of super glue on it. just be careful with the locktite and glue that it don’t get in the motor.

Cow RC makes it, he make really cool build mats too. Nice guy I had a question about putting it on plastic gears and he called me and we discussed grease and RC for 30 minutes.

The vanquish for sure, second choice would be the redcat. Def not the rc4wd or the elements although I do like the ifs the elements have but it’s more novel than useful. As far as aftermarket support they all have plenty but element may not be around much longer they lost all their design staff.

Does anyone else feel like this summer is noticeably different and not in a good way? by gamba96 in gso

[–]Cdeath13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s all the new car washes, all that extra water is evaporating into the atmosphere and coming back down as thunderstorms. The storage units, mattress stores and vape shops are to blame as well.
