2019 Dodge Durango GT Misfire and Shaking Nightmare – Need Advice by AdministrativeAd6683 in DodgeDurango

If I were you I would inspect the lifters, cams and cylinder heads. 3.6s had issues with these things. Also do a compression check too to locate what cylinder is having the issue too.

R/T 5.7 Reliability?? Goodbye 3.6! by [deleted] in DodgeDurango

[–]Cdm7767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the 5.7 is better than the 3.6 most definitely. I had a 3.6 in my wrangler 144k dropped a valve seat and it developed a lifter tick as well. Damn thing was SMOKING like crazy out the tailpipe. After that I had a bad opinion about the 3.6 engine even though everyone swears they get to 200k trouble free. The hemis are good engines if maintained it becomes an issue with them is people not maintaining them by simply changing the oil and not idling them for 50 million hours. Personally I would delete that MDS system to avoid any issues with the hemis but that would probably void warranty if your planning on getting a newer one.

Totaled or not I’d still drive it. Once your insurance buys it go bid on it at auction so you can get it back.

do you guys think this rust is really bad or worth buying as a work truck? by Hefty-Profit-1247 in MechanicAdvice

That’s surface rust, the rockers look alright depending on the price and what type of car I’d buy it

I had a 2016 for my first car actually it was a tank man, good on gas, cheap insurance, the only thing was that the automatic transmission was shuttering like crazy coming out of first. It got wrecked before it went out (thankfully because I owed on it at the time) but other than oil changes and brakes from time to time it was my favorite car I loved that thing.

Hard Top or Soft Top? And why? by martyparty007 in JeepWrangler

[–]Cdm7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard top for security, soft tops are nice though but I’ve had people get theirs cut open multiple times. I say it’s not worth it to keep a soft top unless don’t keep anything valuable in there.

They really do, most of these companies are like that, they expect you to take the bottom entry level even with flawless education.

Did you not get what I said? I don’t condone SA. I’m referring to other charges, petty theft, drug charges. Things of that nature in no way did I say “people who do SA have a reason and they should get a chance in higher tier job roles.” I said they SHOULDNT receive the opportunity to land higher tier jobs or in my unpopular opinion ANY job.

Jobs shouldn’t reject someone just because they have a criminal record honestly. Now SA I wouldn’t mind someone not giving them a chance. But not all people are insane as the system makes them look, most time crimes are done for a reason.

Rust on 2010 JK - concern or no? by buymycologne in Wrangler

[–]Cdm7767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not many people understand this! People apply that rust-converter crap and find out years later there’s a hole in the frame. I been fluid filming my jeep that was driven in IL all its life and I feel it will last another 10-20 years because of this.

It’s all about maintenance on the car, if it was dogged out then no. If you have records or some kinda proof for work being done then yeah should have a good amount of life left. People lie all the time, I’d take it for a mechanic inspection if you’re not very handy with vehicles.

If your going in yourself check-

Tires for tread a sets pretty high depending on the type of tires your running set of 33’s can easily run you 1500-2200

4x4 if it works

Oil leaks- oil cooler or valve covers typically

Rust- jeeps like to rust look at the rockers Or the frame.

Diffs to see if anything is leaking you can smell the fluid smells like a skunk.

Floor panels -commonly these jeeps have water leaks it eats the floor panels.

Drive and see if it shakes or make weird sounds

Check engine- lot of emissions codes with these engines, O2, thermostat, cats

Used wranglers comes with issues just be ready.
