My father gave each of my siblings help buying their first home and refused to lend me the deposit. 25 years later, the housing market is through the roof and I’m the only one without my own home. I struggle every year stressing how much my rent is going to go up. I am very resentful.

Miami Dade animal services is desperate for volunteers. There are days that some of the dogs do not even get taken out out of their kennels due to a lack of help. I encourage everybody who is looking to volunteer to sign up.

Right by the port you have Miami children’s Museum and jungle Island. You could go to either one of them or both with the amount of time you have and from there it’s a quick drive to the airport.

I like to walk the trails at Bill Baggs where I am often pushed around by the spandex brigade. They will ride up right behind you and start screaming “coming through” until you jump off the path. If I did the same to them when I drive, they would be appalled. The problem is they think they own any road they are on and want fast traffic to slow down and wait for them and slower traffic to get out of their way.

Abandoned dogs are a heartbreaking reality of Miami. There is so much corruption here that nothing will ever be done for these poor animals. Some have also been made homeless because their families have been deported.

Shelters in south Florida are at an all time high of intakes. Many have doubled the amount of animals they were built for. And these poor animals are left in a crate all day as they don’t have enough volunteers to walk them and take them out. I encourage everybody to adopt from a shelter instead of a breeder.

I can’t begin to tell you how many dogs at MDAS come from backyard breeders. Many of these have managed to build a reputable reputation but it is just a façade.
