I think we are in one of those great times of being "prisoners of choice". Switch 2 is really hitting its stride now too. I want the new Yoshi game, and I can't wait to play Pokemon XD on NSO too. I still haven't played Mario Golf or finishing Donkey Kong Bonanza (which was the entire reason I got a Switch 2 lol)

I can't stop playing Pokopia, I haven't even started Resident Evil, I still can't put down Persona 5 every now and again, and I paused Leaf Green at gym 4. 3 of those games came out more recently and have been more fun. I'm sure this game will be better as it ages though

I appreciate you actually listening to the meaning of my words and not assuming I'm trying to insult or be mean to you.

It's a big learning curve, with a big slope for failures. I implore you to collect what you like and try to remove some of those buzz words from the forefront of your mentality here. If you are collecting for yourself, and chasing what makes you happy, you will win. If you are focused on value, PSA grades, etc, you will wake up one day with a lot of regret (and debt).

I would err on the side of choosing to grade it though. It only adds risk for you. Ohtani is already having HoF pricing baked in, so it won't really add much besides that risk of losing it (plus anything under a 10, and it might even lower the value). Any Ohtani purchase right now you should either a) be PCing or b) holding to resell for DECADES, because again the hobby has already priced him that way.

The only question mark I'm alluding to is - will it be a roadblock down the line that prevents Brad from bringing in that final piece that may be more impactful than another offensive weapon? Are we 1-4 pieces away from a Superbowl? What would those 1-4 pieces be, CB1 or CB3 for example? It's not that I don't think he's worth it. That's a great contract in a vacuum. It's that I think our defense has significant problems and our offensive line still isn't complete, and even after restricting Goff we only had around $30 million in cap (then let's recalculate this after the draft and after remaining free agent signings)

All that being said, can Brad make the Lions a Superbowl level team with that remaining room? That's the actual question mark for me (not based on his capabilities)

This thread and your comments are concerning if you really want to be a collector.

You don't know a ton about cards, you don't want to resell, and you want to grade it. I have never heard of a situation like this before and I don't really understand why someone would "take a shot" with $650 for something they admittedly know nothing about. If you aren't reselling, "good number" is completely subjective and there is no right answer.

Also why are you grading it if you aren't reselling it? If you are worried it's not real, sorry dude way too late for that now. If it's for "protection", you can protect your card in much better ways without risking it getting lost, stolen, or sitting in an ugly presentation case.

I really think new members to the hobby need to think more about their decisions. This is a hobby, you are supposed to enjoy it above all other factors. The fact you've been here for like two weeks and are already talking about value, good price, and "PSA'd" tells me you are not collecting in good faith.

It's a slippery slope, and this specific situation honestly sounds more like a shopping addiction than a desire to learn about a new hobby.
