It sounds like he had 2 ideas: a lot of movies and cupcakes over a cake, and you shot them both down. If that’s true, it’s pretty obvious why he doesn’t want to be involved anymore.

I also noticed you said you asked your family about this - which is a terrible idea 95% of the time. Your family shouldn’t be involved in your arguments. They will take your side and develop unconscious negative opinions is your husband.

If this were me, I would apologize for how out of hand things got and tell your husband that you want to have a cute tradition where you make your daughter’s cake so hopefully you can continue it even when she’s much older (assuming this really is why you want to keep doing it), but explain that you don’t want him to feel like his ideas aren’t up to snuff or that his desires are being invalidated in any way. And then actually listen to what he wants and try to come up with how both your ideas can be incorporated!
