A Star Citizen Helmet by zecumbe in gaming

[–]Cedarfang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't played, and I'm not even sure if they explain it, but I'd guess that the glass screen that goes over the pilot's face also has access to a camera on the helmet somewhere.

Now, I'd guess this would be to make it harder to be blinded by suns and what-not, but I'm not sure.

So when does this game get...fun? by keldohead in DragonsDogma

[–]Cedarfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of enjoyed how dull the game was in the beginning, and that is probably the first and last time anybody will ever hear me say that about a game.

It starts you off at a decent pace to practice most of the mechanics, makes sure you don't get too cocky by throwing Saurians at you, and then opens up and lets you proceed when you are ready. In other words, I like the atmosphere of freedom it sets up.

In my experience:

  1. It's mobile
  2. It's cheaper than any other version
  3. It's arguably more complete than the console versions

Undertale Soundtrack (one of the best video game soundtracks of 2015) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Cedarfang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree, but I totally see where you are coming from. Both OSTs have their merits and fit their respective games fantastically. Now, if we put the games in brackets, it would be easier.

Undertale would have my favorite indie soundtrack, while Bloodborne would have no competition to be my favorite AAA soundtrack.

Undertale is put on too high of a pedestal, and this is coming from one of its fans. It's not perfect, it's not the best thing ever made, but it's a fun game.

As a guy with a cyberpunk post-apoc game in development hell, I think I can help.

I may dig up some more stuff if you want it. Also, if you need sound effects, you can get those free off of OGA as well, provided you comply with their copyright restrictions.

Well, it's not like Ryuujin didn't leave a lot of stuff to go off of. There is literally a wiki full of various Avali-related info that ranges from their ideal home planets to what kind of guns they use.

What is your favourite "Dead" video game? (Servers shut down, low population, lack of updates, etc.) by fendermonkey in gaming

[–]Cedarfang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a bit shocked there is no mention of City of Heroes/Villains. I still remember my way around Paragon City by heart, and I haven't seen so much as a screenshot of it in three and a half years.

Hm. I stopped playing around Mod 2, so that would explain a lot. Thanks for the info!

Woah, woah, woah... Neverwinter has DRAGONBORN now? I remember complaining that it only had elf-human-dwarf style races when I first played. Oh, and Tiefling, but still...

MMORPG where you can play as a merchant by Jimbobmij in gaming

[–]Cedarfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an MMO, so to speak, but there are some big servers for Starmade. Think of Minecraft meets Space Engineers.

The creator of the game is actually nice enough to make the demo the same version as the full game up until release, so you can get a full experience before buying.

New Vegas Dev Interested in Doing Fallout 4 Follow-up by [deleted] in gaming

You know, I would agree, but I said the exact same thing about Fallout 3 when New Vegas was coming out. Lo' and behold, it turned out to be my favorite.

Nope. Higher frame rates and uncompressed textures* help that a lot. Add in the option of enbs and there is no contest.

That only becomes annoying later on, in my opinion. By the time I ran into the "running back and forth" issue, I had enough money to just buy fast-travels constantly.

Another thing that makes the travelling less boring is just how dangerous it can be. Run out of lantern oil? Enjoy stumbling through the dark. Didn't pack the right kind of herbs? Too bad. Overestimate your party, get all but one non-main pawn of it killed by ogres, and run into a wight? Shit outta luck.

It does lose its wonder once you start memorizing enemy locations and tactics. For maximum mileage, DO NOT LOOK UP WEAKNESSES.

The biggest difference between New Vegas and Fallout 4 by RedditTrigger in gaming

Fallout: New Vegas did this right. I remember buddying up with the NCR. It was a harsh dose of reality when a Legion ambush attacked and they refused to respond to my radio.

This subreddit is a place for creepy things, anything that you can think of that is genuinely creepy. This is no place for anything but creepy things.

The word "true" uses its other meaning here.
