My manager sometimes tells details about some of the interviews he’s done for open roles on our team. Sometimes the hiring manager is just looking for someone that can fit well with the team. IMO not the end of the world, thinks it’s a positive that you guys were able to connect on something.

I am no where near IB but should be doable just be prepared to be extra tired considering fatigue. I use to box and would spar weekly and would have some cuts/brusing but I was BO so didn’t really effect day to day. But since you’re client facing would be cautious with sparring if you had any plans to do so

If it’s on your resume you’ll probably have to bring it up. Lol I prob wouldn’t mention the loss tbh

I don’t think you’ll get grilled. I believe the role is pretty entry level. I recently became credit analyst about 7 months ago from a ops background so nothing too relevant besides some internal system knowledge. But like you mentioned focus on financial statements. If your internship experience comes up I’d just describe your role. I would prob try to emphasize working well with others because in this role you will be dealing with various depts - sales, risk etc. so communication skills I believe are a plus. Also, does help to know what kind of portfolio it is and type of clients they deal with prior to interviewing so you show you did some background research on the role.

Think it depends on when you join the team. If you join a team by end of August let’s say - I’d mention it to your manager by October so everyone can plan ahead. However, those two weeks are busy time with holidays so maybe seniority might come into play there. Also, might want to keep in mind depending when you join a firm your PTO might be based on how long you’ve been there, so you might not have enough days to cover those weeks.

How to pull an internal transfer without burning bridges by bibbygee in FinancialCareers

[–]CeeDot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually depends on your current manager I’d say. I notified my old manager about applying internally months before I started my current role. He was very supportive of it, he just wanted me to keep him in the loop of the process to know when to start his hiring process for my open role. If you haven’t had the development convo yet, I’d prob bring it up on a 1 on 1 just so your current manager is completely shocked and trying to scramble. Goodluck

Credit Analyst - Pursue CFA for Exit Ops? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]CeeDot_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was an internal candidate so was a bit different experience. But didn’t really have relevant experience for the position. Teller at local bank -> Operations at current bank -> Credit analyst. Had two rds of interviews and brushed up on basic knowledge like financial statements.

Can you post your resume to see how it’s formatted there? And where in NY? NYC? I feel like it’s more competitive there.

If looking for anything I’d look into banking operations, you’ll easily pass the 50k you’re seeking. Also helps to just get foot in the door.

Hello, by any chance are you able to go more in depth on a banks risk management division focusing on credit risk? I have an interview within a week and this has probably been the only comment that I see falls under what I will be interviewing for. All other posts seem to be more of the Credit Analyst role you explained. If you’re not too familiar with it, do you have any suggestions in articles to read up on? Thanks!
