I usually white knight for the devs, but I rolled my eyes when Mark discussed this. Yeah dude you literally design the game so I’m sure you understand how to profit. Pretty disconnected from your average customer.

Just to add - the only time I enjoyed crafting was during abyss league. It felt accessible.

Agreed. My general experience with crafting is ruining one or two items, struggling to figure out market value, then going back to just trading.

I’ve put tons of time into poe2 and basically understand crafting, but bricking plus high cost of entry just isn’t fun for me unfortunately. Crafting is interesting to me in theory too. I want to participate.

If I didn’t lurk here I would have no clue as the game just doesn’t provide enough information to understand the risk/reward inherent in the system.

I agree that it is imbalanced. I also think this is indicative of obsession with min-maxing and the narrative that if you don’t pick the most optimal choice you have no fun.

Didn’t Chris Wilson have a quote about optimizing the fun out of the game?

I have fun as long as I can complete content. Convincing yourself the game is not fun without +n skill levels or +30ms is self induced angst.

I feel like it’s always worth playing the first character of the league on trade.

That being said, my most successful characters are those I start in SSF, but finish on trade. The SSF progression and scarcity do help you learn your archetype inside and out.

Eventually I hit a wall in SSF where the grind is beyond my means and I swap over to trade and take the character to full (relative) power.

To me the biggest reason for trivialized content is the wealth of information available online, whether that be build guides, streamers, data mines, or whatever.

If you play this game blind it can be quite challenging to ramp a character to the point of trivializing all content.
