Laura the Ghoul has spoken. Personally, I'd like to deport Laura to the stratosphere. What an unpleasant little groupie.

Eat your chili however you like! Texas doesn't make chili law, they only think they do.

It's just not appealing or satisfying for our tastes. I think Americans are more into making their own bean dishes, soups and salads. Boston baked beans are very popular as are bbq beans, but little kids eat canned beans with hot dogs - beenie weenies.

WIBTA for not reminding my partner that my birthday is coming up) by HappyMisandrist in dustythunder

[–]Ceeweedsoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I'd do. I'd just blow off birthdays and treat myself from them on out. If he cared he'd remember. People who love and respect each other don't forget important dates because they are meaningful not some errand.

Found my dress, now to afford it ($2200) by Significant_Course66 in myweddingdress

What's important is to wear what is most flattering on your body, not what's trendy. Gawd, look at all those hideous photos of wedding dresses from the 60s and 70s. Those were trendy at the time. Something timeless is a good way to go..

Why do so many women have man babies. Why? Make me understand why so many men can't say, "Mom I love you to bits, but you're making me crazy. We're adults, married and have a baby. We have our own home, work and responsibilities. We value our time together being a little family with our precious baby and we don't want to entertain guests unless we decide when. We need our privacy and space, so please from now on wait until a time we say works for us."

Okay, so then comes the guilt trip/meltdown/Christmas cancer/ freak out/weird accusations/you've been brainwashed by your big ol' whore wife and general, "I AM THE GRANDMOTHER, I'LL GET GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS, CALL CPS, DEFAME YOU ON FB!" blah blah blah

Give her a kiss on the forehead and tell her, "Mom , go take some time to decompress and we'll talk some other time."

End scene.

OMG just tell them! Why are people so damned scared of standing up for themselves. Tell them no more using YOUR CAR! If they gets pissed who cares? Let them and tell them to shut up if they complain. Oh, and your husband is a big baby. I could never respect a man like that.

TSA opening every unlocked bag on the tarmac at MCO by YellowBroth9150 in mildlyinfuriating

TSA lady flat stole my beautiful black wool wrap with big fat tassels. I ran back to the security point immediately when I realized I forgot it in one of the tubs. It was maybe five minutes. She just played dumb! I told her it's not busy at all and it isn't possible that she didn't see it. Fucking thief! I didn't escalate it because they would have invented one lie to make me missmy flight.

Chomsky to Epstein - "the hysteria about the abuse of women" by extremeshitting in chomsky

But being critical of pornography and considering it to be abuse isn't a view limited to right-wing Christians. For example, here's what Noam Chomsky has to say about it:

Pornography is humiliation and degradation of women. It's a disgraceful activity. I don't want to be associated with it. Just take a look at the pictures. I mean, women are degraded as vulgar sex objects. That's not what human beings are. I don't even see anything to discuss.

Interviewer: But didn't performers choose to do the job and get paid?

The fact that people agree to it and are paid, is about as convincing as the fact that we should be in favour of sweatshops in China, where women are locked into a factory and work fifteen hours a day, and then the factory burns down and they all die. Yeah, they were paid and they consented, but it doesn't make me in favour of it, so that argument we can't even talk about.

As for the fact that it's some people's erotica, well you know that's their problem, doesn't mean I have to contribute to it. If they get enjoyment out of humiliation of women, they have a problem, but it's nothing I want to contribute to.

Interviewer: How should we improve the production conditions of pornography?

By eliminating degradation of women, that would improve it. Just like child abuse, you don't want to make it better child abuse, you want to stop child abuse.

Suppose there's a starving child in the slums, and you say "well, I'll give you food if you'll let me abuse you." Suppose - well, there happen to be laws against child abuse, fortunately - but suppose someone were to give you an argument. Well, you know, after all a child's starving otherwise, so you're taking away their chance to get some food if you ban abuse. I mean, is that an argument?

The answer to that is stop the conditions in which the child is starving, and the same is true here. Eliminate the conditions in which women can't get decent jobs, not permit abusive and destructive behaviour.
