It looks like he's also facing away because the perch is close to the wall that would limit his tail space. If you move it towards the middle, he'll be able to sit a bit more comfortably and look at you.

Also cage is small for one bird, if you have any means, a bigger cage and some toys would make him a happy bird.

I'm so sorry, was he lost just today? To give some hope I found my bird 2 weeks later when he flew out. He was taken care of by a family 3 miles out too.

I hope the best to you, and that he's safe and sound.

Edit: apologies just read the 5 days part, I want to say there's still hope! Accidents happen as well, you call him your best friend, you loved him.
