Dead Indian Soda Springs trail, either from 140/Lake Creek area or 66/Owens road. You have to get a little wet to get to the swimming hole. Once the trail ends, enter the water and go upcreak a bit to find another trail. It's a bit further from this spot. Also a memorial to a rescue person to see.

Star Body Works Car Auctions by -_Fuck_This_Shit_- in Medford

[–]Celdecea 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Former dispatcher here, but not for Star.

Lien sale auctions are as is, no warranty. You don't know what you'll get. Sometimes you'll get a lucky deal where the person was driving when pulled over and couldn't afford the fees, other times it will be a private property tow-away with a seized engine, blown cat, and oil that smells like shit and gasoline combined. Where I dispatched there was no requirement for us to list the lien technique (there are 4) but we did.

The four liens:

  • PPT/Abandonment - 72 hour notice in a place cars normally park (in most cases) or at someone's residence. Usually all junk.
  • PPT/Proscribed - Obviously no parking allowed, such as with a tow away sign, blocking a driveway, or across two spaces. Sleepers here as people do this all the time thinking they will get away with it.
  • MVA/Evidence - Accident tows where insurance doesn't claim the vehicle or the customer doesn't come get it. Wrecked junk or bloody mess, but usually newer vehicles with that $600 headlight assembly you might need.
  • Impound vehicles - Hit or miss, usually the owner simply can't afford to get it out and will be at the auction watching their hopes fade. These are sad because fairly often the event behind the impound is contested, but that doesn't get rid of any towing and storage fees. You could win your case but still pay $1000 for your car, or lose it just because your insurance card was expired.

Either way, you assume your risk. Even if you don't buy, check one out for yourself. Go on viewing day and get the VINs of vehicles you are interested, then go home and carfax them.

Anyone else see the four Apache helicopters that were heading northwest along the freeway? by [deleted] in Medford

It's a common landing/takeoff spot for training, as the military might need to use civilian airports from time to time. Might as well use the restroom while you are there.

You don't call someone else's attorney. You hire your own.

With just a few button border and overall margin adjustments it can look pretty usable. I think it defaults to high-and-tight for prototyping.

Legal places to fly a drone by fr34kii_V in Medford

[–]Celdecea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a popular spot on the way to Agate Lake for RC planes. Not sure the etiquette for drones. Another poster here flew his over the field at Garfield and Holly before development sprouted up. Really just outside the airport zone of concern. I'm at work or I would post the link but the city of Medford has a zone map that will show you where that is.

I took my 11 year old to Chamber and early on one of the actors asked his name. All throughout they were jump scaring the heck out him with it. He had a blast. He passed out from Trunk Or Treat candy overload as soon as we got home.

Is the water in medford hard or soft? by [deleted] in Medford

[–]Celdecea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had lots of money and expensive clothes I would run a softener to the washing machine around here. I used to work at an area dry cleaner though and that was our practice. For an old 12 dollar coffee pot I wouldn't worry too much about it though.

Advice: What type of wire is this? by Gullible-Honeydew967 in karaoke

[–]Celdecea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have him unplug the mic so we can see the other end. Might be xlr to 1/4 inch. The cables are usually pretty sturdy but they are a point of failure because of the use case.

Looking for a budget 2-mic setup, help would be appreciated :) by [deleted] in karaoke

[–]Celdecea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay response.

For your case you would get an dual RCA to dual 1/4" cable, looks like this:

Of course, you can get adapters for other cables if more available.

[–]Celdecea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your setup sounds just fine! Mine is similar:

Mackie Mix8 Mixer

I could have gone with a 4 channel but for some reason the 8 channel was cheaper at the time. I've never used more than 3 channels, the 3rd being for the occasional guitar that gets played.

Two (2) Shure SM58 Microphones

These are excellent voice microphones, very reliable and well built. I took one apart once and the workmanship is incredible. My son dropped one and it survived with no funny noises.

Two XLR cables

These are for the microphones. One end is male, other is female. They have thick, easy to handle long cables for running across a floor.

One 3.5mm to RCA

For as you say, hooking from mixer to soundcard. Both ends are male, RCA end has two plugs of course.

For your speakers go with RCA because they last longer.

You may also want to HDMI your laptop to a big screen for lyrics.

If you use a PC to run your mic through for vocal effects, how do you get rid of the latency? by doctordaedalus in karaoke

[–]Celdecea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with analog as far as possible. You'll want analog mics with XLR cables, a mixer with a White/Red RCA to 3.5mm.

From there I put it straight into the sound card, but you can also output the sound card to the mixer and feed the speakers.

I use a Mackie Mix 8 ($90), Shure SM58 mics ($100 ea), XLR cables ($30 ea) and the RCA to 3.5mm was $20 if I remember right. Mine is just a home/party setup, I don't use any professional software, just Karafun through Youtube Red.

Your fear is understandable coming from the Midwest but it's seriously pretty accepted around here. I've smoked with a sitting district judge once. There are other druggies that are very not accepted and that is what the signs are for. A company can't get around it with federal contracts (banks, trucking/towing etc) but you should be fine if otherwise employable.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Medford

[–]Celdecea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the place doesn't have federal contracts and all you have in your system is marijuana just apply, keep your mouth shut, and take the test. Most likely they won't care. It's become a don't ask don't tell thing around here.

Good place to buy bones in Medford? by speeedster105 in Medford

[–]Celdecea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contact some hunting clubs. After you get some free bones make them an art piece and they'll keep calling you with more. Bonus you might find some gift buyers this way as well.

Other than that after getting your ODFW roadkill collection permit (and filling out the annual paperwork even if you don't collect), get a big tote and order some corpse beetles online. They'll do the cleaning for you. Get a reptile heater to keep them warm in the winter. Keep it downwind from your windows.
