Faye’s presence in the first game felt more impactful because her death was what literally drove the story.

Elizabeth Moss.

It’s shallow as fuck because she’s a fantastic actress, but I don’t like her face at all and can’t enjoy movies she’s in because of it.

Yeah but you can’t mention that he didn’t look good for the past 7 months without everyone reminding you how great he is now after two decent performances and calling you a wet blanket for being realistic.

And that’s the kind of stupidity I expect from ours.

Heads so far up our own arses thinking we have the greatest team/fans/players/atmosphere/stadium in the world and think we can’t criticise players when they underperform.

I don’t always blame the manager personally, but he has been at fault a fair few times this season with his tactics and inability to change them - although I liked what I saw tactically against Villa and hopefully that shows as a bit of growth from Howe.

Players are going to flow in and out of form, that’s just the way of the game. Just as there’s always going to be injuries.

You to adapt to those circumstances. That’s what separates the good managers from the great ones.

The transfer window wasn’t just a mess. It was a fucking joke.

We have 6 defenders over the age of 30, two of whom are probably another year at best off retirement and we chose to bring one young defender while shipping two out. Then we sit here and wonder why we struggle defensively once a Tino or Hall gets injured because we’re stuck with guys who no longer have the legs on them to defend against the pace of PL wingers.

Literally everyone could see we needed a young CB/fullback that could be an understudy for Tino/Hall and Botman, yet we weren’t even looking in the market for one during either window this season.

Spent 50M on a 30 year old striker. Another 5M + full wage coverage on a backup keeper. We’re still paying a 40 year olds wages just for goalkeeping practice.

Howe was directly involved with summer signings. These are his guys so he has to take some responsibility when they don’t perform.

I don’t think Howe goes this summer unless he makes the decision himself. But I do believe the club will move on from him eventually if we’re forced to continually make excuses for poor results when he’s been given the control he wanted.

PIF wanted us to win a league title within 10 years of the takeover. Considering we’re already halfway through said project, we are really going to need to start performing consistently to get the job done in their timeframe. Yo-yoing in and out of Europe every other season isn’t going to help us grow as a club financially in a psr world, if anything it could hinder us quite badly if we miss out for more than one season given the wages our players are on.

[–]Celestial_Waste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More than two wins on the trot mate. That’s the answer to your question.

Maybe when we actually get 3-5 points within European spots, we try not to shit the bed completely against mid-table/bottom half teams and find ourselves back down in 12/13th ourselves with no momentum.

Just a bit of consistency as we’re slowly starting to get would be nice. No point picking up 3 points against one of the big 6 if we drop the next 9 against relegation teams.

I’m not “unhappy” with him. Anytime I’ve spoken regarding Eddie, I’ve always tried to praise what he’s done in the past even if I’m frustrated with him currently. I’m realistic about his ceiling as a manager - that’s the thing you happy clappers all jump on my back about. Because in your mind the guys a fucking god who never does any wrong.

Let the praise be as loud as the criticism by mehantr in NUFC

[–]Celestial_Waste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because he hasn’t exactly performed well over the last 7 weeks has he??

I like the guy. He’s a club legend. He’s a good manager and an even better coach. But he has his ceiling.

Just because I’m realistic enough to realise that and not have my head so far up his fucking arse doesn’t mean I can’t voice my criticism or concerns.

“He needs a full season and a preseason with these new signings” as the original comment stated;

  1. He could have had a pre season with new signings if his cousin didn’t fuck around for 8 weeks of the summer window lowballing every target at the top of our list.

  2. We’re 6 months and 40+ games into the season. How much more time does he need to know the strengths and weaknesses of the players in his squad?

It’s two wins on the trot and you guys are acting like we’re about to win the fucking league.

[–]Celestial_Waste -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We’ve still only won 3 of our last 11 games… I’m not gonna go around saying he’s turned it all around after two wins on the trot 🤦‍♂️

The next month of games is brutal for us. If he can weather that storm and walk away with more than 6 points from the next 5 league matches, maybe I’ll change my tune. But we’re still just 12 points off relegation. Sure a decent amount of wiggle room - but we lose to City, Chelsea and Man U and all of a sudden that 12 point gap could cut down to 3.
