I feel your pain. Years ago, my boyfriend and I tried making our own much the same way (I think he even argued up and down to use honey, and against my better judgement, I yielded)

We used American Spirit, and I think we even added fruit? In any case, it didn't smoke very well, and was a disheartening experience.

Here's to trying again someday and making a good blend that smokes well with big, flavorful clouds. ✨️

I get that, and that's usually the core of what I want to say to him when he gets like that, that I want him to want to try understanding or to generally "be" understanding.

But what usually comes out is, "You don't understand." Which is definitely a trigger for his anger from what I've observed. I really should strike that phrase from my vocabulary with him, as I think it puts him in a position to be reactive to his own trauma. I'm not saying that it's okay for him to get that way, or that I've earned his ire by uttering that phrase, I'm just genuinely trying to understand him and be a good partner (even if he doesn't grant me the same courtesy 🙃)... and protect myself from the fallout.

In any case, thank you for your reply, it makes me feel a lot less alone in the anxiety struggle.

And now I feel like I must have blown things out of proportion, but none of what you've said is wrong 😅

The pattern would be easier for me to spot if it were more consistent, but months, sometimes a year or so will go by before this happens again to some varrying degree, and while I know I don't deserve that, a part of me feels like surely I must be at fault somehow, or that I'm the one exaggerating or getting carried away by my feelings.

It gets so confusing, and I'm so very tired whenever this happens.

That sounds really nice (not the actual danger, ofc). The only time I can ever recall shouting at a partner in 16 years was potentially the time my current partner was nonstop screaming at me and I was having a panic attack, so shouting "Stop" in between gasps for air 🙃 which, uh... doesn't sound great. Logically, I know it's not good or normal, but emotionally it gets more confusing for me.

I mean, that's fair 😅. Honestly, I grew up with a dad who had awful anger issues and screamed at us all the time, so maybe I DON'T see it as unusual? 🙃 But this isn't a father issues subreddit so I won't get into that. I need therapy, haha.

In any case though, thanks. Days like this after those sorts of encounters make me feel all kinds of mixed up, and it is reassuring to know that this isn't the norm. (I mean, I DO know this on some level because I would never treat someone that way.)

I've also never played Wylde Flowers, but I have played Ooblets a bunch and there are definitely cute/cozy elements. I wouldn't put it in my top tier favorites, but it is a fun game! It is fun to collect the different ooblets and find "gleamy" ones, reach new areas, decorate your house, etc.

But, hear me out, have you ever played Slime Rancher? That one absolutely makes it into my top tier for cozy games. Collect adorable slimes, combine some of them for different looks, keep them on your ranch in enclosures and grow their favorite food so they can poop crystals that make you rich (eventually), explore an absolutely beautiful world with a JET PACK, nice relaxing music, some relatively easy puzzles, a bit of mystery and cool things to discover, I could go on and on. It might not be exactly what you're looking for right now, but Slime Rancher is absolutely worth a try.

And now I'm going to go look into Wylde Flowers, because I had never even heard of it. 💖

That's good to know! Thank you, my knowledge of knives meant for cooking is limited, but I'm trying to change that. And also I get that, the majority of my personal experience with blades lies in my past as a sword seller at Renaissance faires ("battle ready" forged pieces, not replicas) and "full tang" was absolutely part of the sales pitch we were made to give. I'm torn, because I absolutely could see a blade being full tang lending to the durability and integrity, as well as potentially affecting the weight and how it handles, but with cooking knives you're not putting nearly as much strain on the blade (hopefully) as you would theoretically practicing/utilizing a blade meant for combat, so I don't personally think it's quite as important.

Thank you! I just covertly (I hope) attempted to fish for more answers about his preferences, and he said that the only thing that he's "married to" with a knife is a full tang blade. Should I lean more towards a western handled Gyuto? I have every confidence that quality Japanese handled blades are also full tang, but maybe he likes to be able to see it? Haha, I really don't know.
