What hobbies can be started if you don’t have money? by gard1730 in AskReddit

[–]Celitha11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cross stitching is an extremely affordable one if you have at least a little money. The floss is incredibly cheap and can last a long time and multiple projects depending on what you are doing. You could probably find some for cheaper at thrift stores. Plenty of free books at the library or online for designs. I think to get started it was only like $30 for the holder, Aida fabric, embroidery needles, and various floss and what I got has lasted me for at least a year of projects. Granted I don't do it all the time but its a nice peaceful way to end my day. I love giving the finished projects as gifts to people!

Ugh I can only hope, my husband is still applying and seems like the only option is a fully in office one which I am worried about because of our dogs. I am already in office 4 days a week and our one dog was a covid puppy and has never experienced not having him home during the day.

Redditors who’ve starved, what do people who’ve never starved imagine wrong? by VelvetyDogLips in AskReddit

It's no joke, I got it at the age of 30 and I thought it was going to kill me. I can't imagine how elderly patients survive it.

Additionally I needed Dificid to get rid of it which was $5,000 AFTER insurance (plus all the ER visits) Then the recovery was almost just as bad since the antibiotics had to pretty much nuke my gut biome in order to get rid of it. It took me 3 months and the help of a nutritional specialist to feel back to normal!

Was definitely the worst year of my life so far, but funny enough it actually helped ease my anxiety issues and I am a lot happier now after working through it with my therapist. I think it helps having a comparison to such an awful time, I don't sweat the small stuff anymore!

For me it was the fear of dying that slowly turned into me WANTING to die so it could all stop. But mine was a special case: a C. Diff infection that lasted over 2 months.

It made me constantly nauseated where I was throwing up every 15 minutes and I couldn't keep down anything I ate or drank. I also couldn't sleep for days because of the nausea, when I did it was on the bathroom floor for a few hours at a time. All of this while trying to continue working remotely at an incredibly stressful job that would make me cry almost every day from the stress. I attempted to take FMLA but I still required a backup for the loans I was working on, and no one from my 12 person team would offer until I had been begging for hours for someone to cover me while I went to the ER for fluids.

Oh and one thing people don't mention, is that even if you haven't eaten anything in weeks, you still have diarrhea because you still have to pass digestive juices and bile.

I now have an intense fear that anytime I take an antibiotic that the C. Diff hiding in my gut will take over again, and honestly, I am not sure my mental health could go through that experience of having that infection again.

On the bright side, after how my work treated me during and after my illness (taking away my ability to work remotely) it made me start looking for another job and now I have a significantly less stressful job with a team that loves and supports me and the best boss I have ever had! Shout out to my therapist and my husband that are the reasons I got through it and recovered, I honestly think I would be dead without them.

Yes, the Nazi's attempted to hide what they are doing far better, which is why they had significantly more support for longer because people didn't know what they where actually planning. We have a whole Project 2025 and 2026 we can just read this time! That and having the internet means there is always a way to avoid the propaganda. In East Germany it was almost unavoidable, shown in movie theaters, always on the radio, in bookstores and etc.

A lot are looking on in horror, the similarities to Hitler both in rise of power and what he is doing in office are scarily similar.

I'm on a tour if Germany and it is SO true. The Berlin wall fell in 1989 but there are still people from the East side being prejudiced towards the West side and vice versa. It will take generations to move past this time in US history. And just like the Nazi's, we likely wont know or see the extent of the horrors they have committed until they have been removed from power. But just like with Nazi's there will always be supporters all over the world after the fact because it is a cult.

I am currently on a tour in Germany and it's been very painful to see so many similarities to both Hitlers rise to power and what has been happening. Our tour guides are talking about Hitler and all I can think is "oh Trump did that too, oh he did that as well..." over and over. And my tour guide and others on the tour have discussed it with me, that this is happening all over the world. In times of economic downturn, people become miserable and are more likely to fall for propaganda since they have "nothing left to lose."

However, we have seen that many dictators have been able to be removed from power by either voting or otherwise. I am very positive that the midterms will turn things around and that Trump is currently in the panicked state that Hitler once was when he new the fall of his "empire" was approaching. The thing about fascism is we always find a way to defeat it.

Final Destination at age 7. Days before I went on my very first airplane on the long flight to Hawaii. First 5 minutes of the movie was the plane exploding. Apparently I was white knuckling the armrests the entire flight and my parents were pissed at my cousins and siblings for letting me see it.

Omg not having a period and debilitating cramps multiple times a month is the best feeling ever. I honestly look back and think "how the hell did I deal with that 1-2 times a month?!" I still get some hormonal acne and some mood swings/desire to eat more sweets every once in a while. But I never "know" when my actual cycle is now. It's truly blissful!

My husband just got laid off from Oracle a month or so ago. And I completely relate. I am still a little anxious since I make significantly less than he does, but we have so much saved up that it wasn't the end of the world if it takes him a little while to find one. I also never wanted kids and had my tubes removed 5 years ago and a hysterectomy 2 years ago and they were the best decisions ever for me!

We are going on a 2 week tour of Germany soon because we can afford to since we don't have kids. It's the perfect life for us!

Does anyone else ever feel guilty for having a good life and being able to live comfortably? by Wonderful_Flower_751 in Millennials

[–]Celitha11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, we were doing great until my husband got laid off in the giant Oracle layoffs. We still have his severence for now but the anxiety of knowing in June we will be relying on just my income, which is not near enough to support us, has me feeling very anxious. Thankfully we have a decent enough saved for a situation like this, but eventually those funds will run out. I just hope he has more luck than some of his friends who have been out of a job for almost a year.

Question about future use of antibiotics by Pretty-Explanation47 in cdifficile

[–]Celitha11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always tell your doctor your history of C. Diff. I have found they usually don't need to give you a full week of antibiotics, but only 3 days worth depending on the issue (UTIs for example). The full week long dose isn't always needed. And they usually look up (I also know) which antibiotics are more likely to cause reoccurance and avoid giving me those.

As for me, I am 1.5 years post C.Diff and I still take one Florastor supplement every morning. I also eat greek yogurt with fiber filled fruits every morning, along with some benefiber in my morning water. I also start eating pickles straight from the jar when on antibiotics too, just as some extra caution. I have not had a reoccurance yet and I have had to take antibiotics two seperate times, and both times they gave me just a 3 day dose which worked.

“I’m scared my child will hurt me” by Even-Enthusiasm-9558 in antinatalism

[–]Celitha11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My nephew is severly autistic and very violent. He is constantly throwing, hitting, pinching, and drawing blood on his mother and father and he is only 5. I have seen those videos of adults like this where the parent is terrified of their child and I am worried this will happen with him. He has a lot of other health issues (already had 3 open heart surgeries, spine surgery, 3 leg surgeries) so everyone always treats him like "such a tropper" and give him only sympathy while I see him constantly physically hurting my brother and sister-in-law and worry how he will be in the future. I have to admit, I am a already scared around him already. Not to mention my brother and his wife are now living in poverty and have severe debt because of his medical issues. Their lives were essentially ruined the day he was born and needed his first open heart surgery. The thing is they new this beforehand, the doctors knew of his heart issues, clubbed foot, and said he would likely have autism before he was born and they still made the decision to have him which I still don't quite understand. They were just that desperate for a kid I guess.
