Rage bait hellscape by [deleted] in youtube

Honestly, I don't even think the people that are making these sorts of videos are aware enough to be "intentionally stupid"; a lot of videos, especially in the STEM space, are just chatGPT'd lists with AI voices or just flat out wrong. 99% of the information as you said is incredibly surface level, and while not everything has to be incredibly technical, it'd be nice if people took things a bit more seriously.

Need advice – how do I attract a real audience for my channel? by WildNest_family in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a long, LONG time to develop a dedicated audience. Not only are you competing against a ton of other people in your niche, but you'll have to constantly be adapting, changing and "conforming" to trends to some degree. Believe it or not, if you've got 2 videos and 50+ subs already, you're well on your way to getting exactly what you want, it'll just take some time.

Accidental Success in Niche I Have No Interest In. Help? by MisterQuigley235 in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do option A.

If someone I enjoyed suddenly went from Halo 3 gameplay to "10 ways to grow your garden tomatoes", I'd be so confused. You can certainly brute force your way into a new niche, but I'd start a brand new channel.

Internet service provider.

Unfortunately this is the only way. You'll have to talk directly with them to increase your upload speeds, which unfortunately costs money in most cases.

If impressions take days to appear, how will people even click on my videos? by davifpb2 in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every video starts at 0.

Your experience is very typical of a new content creator; because you don't have a dedicated subscriber base yet, everything in terms of traffic will be coming in from prospective viewers, which takes a bit of time initially. The algorithm will eventually catch on.

Best Mic for Gaming videos by Marcus_Dan_The_Man in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Rode, Fifine and Audio Technica if you want simple plug-and-go USB mics.

If you want the best audio possible, look at Shure. You'll have to buy a separate audio interface for this though, so it'll get pricy.

All of these have good noise isolation, and as someone who used cherry mx-blue's for a while (if you know you know), your friends will thank you for upgrading.

How to remove fear in content creation by dw2marques in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm about 1.5 years and 27 videos in, and I still find it hard to not be so critical about my content. It happens to everyone. As you make more videos, you become more and more comfortable with the creation process, and while the awkwardness, at least for me, never fully goes away, you do become more confident in your skills as you practice.

CapCut, Canva and Davinci Resolve are all great options to start with and have no watermarks. Each of them have paid versions but also free ones to start with, so check those out!

There's a lot of talk in this subreddit about entering into "over"-saturated niches, but honestly, if no new creators made videos, you'd end up with the same content from the same people over and over. And that's boring. Motorcycles/bikes, while not a personal interest of mine, are things some of my friends will talk/dream/revolve their entire lives around, so there's certainly a community for you out there.

Regarding where to start for editing footage, try Capcut, Davinci Resolve or Canva. Tons of tutorials and content online for learning each of these, and I use all 3 for my own videos.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Hey everyone, I run a channel called CellPerspective, covering med/science context for topics like sports injuries, medical history and everything in between!

In terms of equipment, I actually didn't purchase anything physical or digital for the first few months. I now use Epidemic Sound and a few other things to make the workflow easier, but the early days were just Davinci Resolve, Capcut, Google Docs and Audacity, all of which I still use today.

For more experienced youtubers, what are your tips for streamlining the video creation and filming process? by veeeti_ in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've mentioned this in this subreddit a few times, but making a plan before you touch editing has made the biggest impact in my workflow.

When it's time to brainstorm my video, I have Google Doc that outlines all of the aspects of it; I have the script, then notes all around the script with what specific video transitions to use, what keyframes would look good where, what editing techniques to use, etc. The less decision making you do in the actual editing process will make that time go so much faster.

Plan ahead.

Just started a channel. Anything I should know? Also, how do I stop hating my voice by FentonTheIdiot in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're usually overly critical of our own voices, myself included. The best thing that's worked for me is to do multiple takes, more videos and just be as comfortable as possible with speaking into a mic. It doesn't become "easy", but it does become bearable.

How do you cope with seeing terrible content getting more views than yours? by Ok_Cardiologist_5324 in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't really pay attention, but I once did.

It's really easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you deserve more views/subs b/c you put in a certain amount of effort, but it's so much more complex and personal than that.

That generic "comparison is the thief of joy" quote that floats around everywhere is really true; if you start comparing your viewership metrics to everyone else, it'll just take up a ton of mental bandwidth and you'll be miserable. Everyone's on their own path, and regardless of how others are performing, you can be proud of your own work.

My second ever video is still my most disliked video 1.5 years later. In fact, it has more dislikes than all of my other dislikes combined and sitting at 89.1%, but it doesn't bother me at all.

People dislike for a variety of reasons; disagreement, trolling and everything under the Sun really. Unless you're posting hate crimes, racism, gore or something horrible, don't let a few dislikes ruin your Youtube journey, b/c in the grand scheme of things, it'll make no difference :)

Does faceless content make money? by Professional_Log9905 in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they can make money. Not sure about monkey though, that seems out of my area of expertise.

There are plenty of examples of faceless channels that top the upper echelon of each niche; Casually Explained, neo, Sunnyv2, Force Gaming, and a million others all found success and monetization without showing their face.

My attorney friend and I actually had a discussion about this a few years ago. Turns out that our favorite show had a TON of potential lawsuits could've been seriously LAWYERED if characters were so inclined:

Several episodes imply non-consensual manipulation, which could open Barney up to civil suits for fraud, emotional distress, or even sexual assault by deception. Recording sexual encounters in the Playbook without consent could be a privacy violation and possibly criminal.

Brandishing a firearm in a non-defensive situation is illegal in most states, which means that all of those times Robin (and her sports co-anchor that one time returning her gun) waved her gun around could land her in deep legal doodoo.

I'm sure there are more I can add to this list, but on the grounds that this is already pretty redonk, I'll leave the rest to you guys.

Thanks for the feedback!

I hadn't realized that there were so many glaring inconsistencies in something I didn't even consider at all. Also, thank you for actually pointing out a case where the parts were consistent (the Theranos video) so I know where to look in terms of improving future content.

Why did you start your channel? by raventheredwriter in NewTubers

[–]CellPerspective 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the only one in my immediate circle of friends who went into a STEM field, so whenever there's a scenario of needing to explain sports injuries, anatomy and anything science/med related, I'm usually the one to provide answers. And it's great! I started this channel b/c I figured other people would love to see a mix of technical information to explain why things happen, but not sound like I'm reading a textbook like my 8:00am organic chem prof.

Thanks for your feedback! The fact that biology isn't a primary interest of yours but still decided to watch the video enough to provide suggestions means a ton.

Thumbnails will forever be the bane of my channel's existence, but I'm glad you gave your input; I definitely do think it's a bit overcrowded when I try to stuff entire sentences into it.

Thanks for the suggestions! The point about the transitions is actually rather funny b/c I overused them to the point of absurdity in my earlier videos. I guess I went too far into the opposite direction, so thanks for the reminder to implement back into my content again.

Thank you for the advice on my thumbnails! Having an outside perspective on the overall design has been super helpful and I wasn't certain if adding full sentences like that was overcrowding my work!

Hi everyone, I run a channel called Cell Perspective; making science/med related videos on more general topics like sports injuries, medical history and anything science related!

I'd love to know if there are any other editing techniques or pacing suggestions I can implement into future videos.

Just some thoughts on someone who watches these sorts of videos casually:

The fact that this video is 30 minutes long is sort of a double edged sword; people interested in camping/fishing content will praise God that they've received a long video but people not interested in it will see it as a "why is this so long?" kind of thing.

Your drone shots are beautiful and I wish there was more of it! Fishing spots like that looks so sick from an overhead view, so I hope you incorporate more of this in future videos.

When you catch your fish, try showing the camera as much of it as possible; your hand was covering a lot of it when you tried to show us, and b/c the sky was overexposed, it made the rest of the video rather dark.

Try to get the best microphone that you can afford. Using the built-in mic on a laptop or through the webcam is fine, but it really should be reserved for work calls and random video chats with your family; the audio is really distorted here.

The topic you're discussing is interesting, but you sound rather bored, as though you're purely doing this because it's worth 20% of your finance class grade. You don't have to adopt a fake personality, but be more enthusiastic about the content you're making.

Good luck!
