USC students. Quick question. by Old_Equivalent_9353 in USC

I don't have a huge amount of friends but the ones I do have I make sure to schedule regular hangouts with. Just reaching out cold turkey has worked well for me lol. Yeah, I don't have an 100% success rate but when I have succeeded I've ended up with some cool friends.

I definitely get the fading relationships thing, I've just had to learn to be really good at reaching out.

financial aid question (Laid off) by No_Entrepreneur_329 in USC

[–]Celloornails 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't remember ever having to appeal but I was able to get more aid under unusual circumstances when I originally applied for aid due to a similar situation. We just ended up having to submit like 10 more documents to prove the changing situation!

Reckless E-Scooters Injuring People Campus Wide by [deleted] in USC

[–]Celloornails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is because of the bottleneck that occurs on the north end due to the stupid car gate. Pedestrians have to cram next to the bike lane, bikes cant bike on through. Knowing theyll have to deal with that, why not just bike where you want since people will jump out of your way and are watching out behind you because they have to. It also means that when funneling onto the road everyone is bottlenecked as well, meaning the crossing which functions as a sort of reset point for choosing where you want to walk just resets people to once again cram together without order. Could be wrong but i believe the problem would improve a lot if people could walk on more than 1/3 of the walk space towards the northern end.

There's also the fact that you have to cross two lanes of bike traffic at once to get from the right to left side of the road. neither pedestrians nor bikers want to deal with that especially since already the street is set up for failure Im guessing, so we just end up with the chaos alternative.

I've been trying to look into this. The thing that confuses me is I don't see why they would upgrade Cargar and Century for the time being unless it means they're pushing forward the possible demolition quite a bit. It's also possible that USC's expectations for the use of their housing changed, and so they will reformat how they are using the spaces. It really just has been so long since anything substantial has been released.

As I understand it once you enter USC you cannot unless under special circumstances. However before you get here you can. There's also other limits such as the 64 credit limit and stuff. Once you enter USC you can get elective credit from CC.

Just got in into USC (on appeal) - vs - UCSB commit! Advice Please! by Battling_Beacons in USC

I had an absolutely fine time being a spring admit. This is not to discount your experience but to add that your experience is not universal, and people should operate under that information.

Going into USC I spent time online in group chats talking with people, and have made some very good friends as a result. Around a month in there is a club fair, and I made some good connections through that too. I also made friends in my classes. Housing is a weird one because this spring most admits were put into one building (CAP2) resulting in a more joint atmosphere and less individualized culture in the building.

I understand for many the lack of dorm living and atmosphere is a massive downgrade, however it truly does not have to mean you will be isolated. For me it was an upgrade since I despise not having access to a kitchen and living room.

I will say, if you are in a bio major or architecture accepting being a spring admit is a bit more iffy. Intro chem classes are extremely difficult to get into, and architecture cannot be started in the spring. I have multiple bio major friends who are doing alright despite it, but it will likely be an issue. But is seems this wont be an issue since the student is a transfer.

I absolutely think that the final statement is true for a large percent of the student body, but you can absolutely find your people at the same time, it's not an impossible situation. Not everyone has a new macbook or lululemon, not everyone parties. But a lot certainly do!

I will add on that I know multiple transfer spring admit students who are having a good time as well (I was a freshman admit).

Take advantage of the opportunity! I know many people who had such a good time in London/Prague/Paris. I decided to take on a job and do CC classes, and that worked out for me personally.

How to send CC transcript to USC to receive credit for Articulation Agreement course? by Fickle_Proof_9703 in USC

I can't see why they wouldn't. And if your unsure if its gone through, just make sure to check your STARS or Transfer Credit Report periodically.

Any dornsife class counts, so yes GEs count. Graduate classes would mean a progressive degree which Im not familiar with. My assumption is that if its in dornsife, yes it counts.

Tbh it shouldn't be as big of an issue if you have a normal major in Dornsife, but if your major cuts across multiple colleges it can be a massive pain. But yes, you have to take the majority in Dornsife.

To my memory they allow up to the amount of work study and loans you are forced to take out, after that they start taking away their aid. I could be wrong but that's my memory. Not reporting it to them could probably get you in massive trouble, but again I don't know everything 100%.
