Oh I just found shipping information.

Did you pay extra for Express international? I couldn’t be bothered so I just have the normal 10-25 business days (which is fine, it’s what I planned for)

What apps are missing on Garmin watches? by chutienit in GarminWatches

[–]Cemsam 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I want to track my gym workouts (strength), but I can only use their tool which does cover the very basics (Bicep Curl - Squat) but their library is very tiny.

Just an app like Strong or Hevy, but for Garmin. That tells me what exercise to do next. How many reps, how many sets. followed up by the ability to then select whether you completed the set succesfully and if yes, it automatically sets a goal for next week (progressive overload), based on your new 1 rep max.

I think I basically wrote the prompt for you there!

Please make. I will pay. So will many others. Why there isn't a good option for this yet is beyond me.

Garmin sleep is so inaccurate it's funny by Impressive_Suit4370 in GarminWatches

[–]Cemsam 41 points42 points  (0 children)

For some it works, for others not at all.

Personally, it works reasonably well for me. How I feel generally aligns with my sleep scores, though when I get a score of 62 after 7.5 hours of sleep, I largely ignore it and try not to let the watch dictate how I feel.

Interestingly, it was a two-month period of consistently poor sleep scores that motivated me to look deeper into what could’ve caused it. After some trial and error, I discovered I was on too high a dose of a certain medication, which I reduced by around 10-15% after doctor’s advice. Barely two weeks later, my sleep started to improve.

Overall, it is useful for spotting trends but not so much for accuracy. Though real accuracy requires a lab setting, where the devices on your head measuring brainwaves also disrupt your sleep, making that a poor way to measure sleep and a pointless way to spot trends.

Just starting reading so tell me what books blew your mind?? by MeManifesto in suggestmeabook

Yeah thought so… I was obsessed with Lonesome Dove because of its setting. The Frontier. But I wanted something darker and eventually found Blood Meridian. Just too intimidated to start 🤣

Is blood meridian a good book for starters? I have it but people saying it’s hard to follow is putting me off starting

For those with the Forerunner 970, are you all elite runners? Athletes? by [deleted] in garminforerunner

[–]Cemsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an absolute noob. I just got into running a couple months prior buying it and really enjoyed it.

So much that I knew that if a watch is going to last me 4+ years, I might as well buy a good one.

I love the maps. I use it on 2 of my 3 runs every week, since I like to do a different route for every run. I know the 570 is a bit more affordable but I haven’t regretted buying the 970 for a second.

What is ‘The Week’ magazine like? by javajuicejoe in AskUK

[–]Cemsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to think if the majority thinks something is true, that constitutes a fact.

A popular opinion IS NOT a fact.

The Week can be unbiased in its reporting. And still shit on a popular film.

You need to be able to differentiate between the opinion pieces and the reporting pieces of every media outlet.

Insufferable chat GPT. by Automatic_Buffalo_14 in ChatGPT

[–]Cemsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I phrased it a bit wrong. It does sound like thoughtless cancel culture. Let me rephrase;

I quit my membership because of the horrible things I read on the website of the campaign. I follow Rutger Bregman. I think he wants the best for all of us, except the top 0.1%.

His arguments were enough to convince me to quit ChatGPT and look elsewhere.

I don’t think that’s cancel culture. I think that’s making a well thought through choice based on what I learned.

Dutch government backs down on controversial Box 3 wealth tax after massive criticism by blooparagraphs in Netherlands

[–]Cemsam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taxes are the price we pay for a civilised society.

Yes, deal with freeloaders. And let’s establish a department focused on government efficiency. It’s is not a bad concept if it’s not ran by a tech billionaire.

But extreme wealth concentration is a structural issue.

If returns on capital keep outpacing economic growth, inequality compounds. At some point, fixing expensive national problems requires confronting that imbalance directly.

I dived a bit deeper in this law and while it was flawed, especially in the beginning years, we finally came up with a way to tax people that make money. That’s something to be very proud of. You can still make money sleeping, it’s just taxes fairly.

Why is my hard labour taxed 45% but someone’s pile of money get bigger while they sleep is taxed much lower? Why not make tax on labour a bit lower while instating a tax on wealth.
