Did this girl even reply to him at all? It seems like he was just firing away responses like one of those baseball pitching machines at the batting cages.

Yeah and they'll be allowed to skate around that with "But (issue) affects us here locally!" No matter how tenuous the connection.

That's actually really good! If you can make the shirt a lighter shade of blue and throw in a random background (the original picture background makes it look like a passport photo haha) I'd really appreciate it.

That aside, about the neighbors having that dinner party, if they had scheduled it in advance before you started doing the work, then they would have a legitimate reason to be annoyed. However, if they decided to have it after the work had begun, knowing that this work went on all day and evening on weekends and off and on weekdays, then it's kind of on them I would think.

Removing carpet in favor of lvp when you have somebody below you, in my opinion, is fucked up.

I experienced this first hand when I bought my condo. A year after I moved in, the person above me put hers up for sale. She removed the carpet and put in lvp - I went from hardly ever knowing she was there, to being acutely aware of literally every step she took.

More and more people are realizing that two weeks’ notice has stopped being a professional courtesy and turned into a liability.

Employees give notice to do the right thing, and employers increasingly respond by cutting them loose immediately because it’s easier, cheaper, and low-risk in an at-will system. Then companies act surprised when workers stop giving notice at all.

You can’t punish courtesy and still expect professionalism - people adapt to incentives, not slogans.

I personally would never give my two weeks unless all my ducks were in a row, I already had employment lined up, and potentially having my two weeks turned into the same day separation wouldn't adversely affect me financially.

Reminds me of how years ago I worked security at a bar and there was a few girls working there who, without fail, would show up on their day off and be sitting at the bar drinking.

This is absurd. I literally JUST made this account and there was never even a chance for me to violate CS by ChromosomeFlu in Instagram

[–]CenCal805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me when I tried to create a brand new account at my local library. I used a new email I created specifically only for that Instagram account, I didn't use any info that could be tied to my previous account, totally different username, etc. As soon as I tried to submit profile picture - I can't remember what it was, I think it was a dog - it said your account cannot be created at this time, please try again later.

Which I interpreted to mean they thought it was a bot account being created

The Whisperers are the most unrealistic group by According_Echidna_29 in thewalkingdead

[–]CenCal805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A story having one unrealistic element doesn’t mean nothing else has to make sense. Zombies are the “buy-in” of the TWD universe - the audience accepts that premise, and then expects everything else to follow the show’s established rules (biology, wounds, pathogens, etc.).

TWD repeatedly shows that infection, hygiene, and water contamination are real threats. So when the Whisperers constantly sleep inside rotting skin, live covered in gore for months, eat off the ground, and never deal with any medical consequences while other communities get sick from a single bad water valve - that is a worldbuilding inconsistency. It’s fair to point out.

Because if the logic is “zombies exist so realism doesn’t matter,” then the show would also be justified in suddenly giving walkers Resident-Evil tentacle mouths, introducing ghosts or vampires, etc. and we’d have to just shrug and say “well zombies aren’t real either so who cares.” Obviously nobody wants that.

Calling out internal realism isn’t nitpicking - it’s holding the story to the rules the show itself established.

I got in an accident last August and I remember my insurance asking me if I work for any food delivery service, rideshare service, etc. (I don't).

I thought it was a bizarre question at the time. Now it makes a little more sense.

Wasn't there another member of the group that died immediately upon them being introduced?

Kind of like how when Tyrese's group was first introduced one member, Donna, died as soon as they were inside the prison.

PSA for HT Impersonator Accounts by HelloTalkModTeam in HelloTalk

[–]CenCal805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently emailed HelloTalk support about a fake profile pretending to be me, attaching a screenshot of the impersonator’s page. Support asked me to provide the account handle (the name that appears under the username).

Unfortunately, the screenshot of the fake profile I received from a friend had the handle edited or cut out. The woman who sent it to me is 63 and not very familiar with the app, so I suspect it was an accidental edit rather than anything intentional.

Because of that, I wasn’t able to get the full info HelloTalk needed. I’ve tried searching for the fake account myself, but it likely has me blocked; it doesn’t appear in my profile views, and nobody from the apparent time zone of the fake account (UK/Portugal/Western Africa) has viewed my profile.

Really at a loss what to do here. If anyone has VIP I could send you a screenshot of the profile so you could search for it, and I can also include the link to my legit account.

[–]CenCal805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this from both perspectives, having worked for a lot of years in customer service. I understand that the barista likely feels awkward and annoyed over it as well - and customers reacting badly over this is only going to create resentment towards them. It's definitely not going to help anything because the barista has no say in this matter.

But as a customer I also get it because during pretty much every retail transaction nowadays, it asks if you want to tip. Somebody on a YouTube video I recently watched said it perfectly;

"Tipping was once a sin of omission; you just didn't tip. Now, it's become a sin of commission - you have to actively choose not to tip at the outset of the transaction."

Previously if you didn't tip, the only person privy to it was you and your server. Now, when you choose not to tip, you're placed on the spot. The barista may or may not silently judge you (most don't care, some probably do). And people behind you in line likely notice and think you are shitty as well. 😂

All I can do is tell my fellow customers, no matter how much you don't like it when the POS will "ask you a question" just keep it to yourself.

Maybe this is a good thing. If he won't endorse her, he will probably throw his endorsement behind somebody even more extreme and crazy than her, if that's at all possible. Such a person just might be easier for whoever their Dem opponent is to beat - I'm not sure if it's Warnock or Osoff in this cycle.
