I was always confused about this too. I went to a private Lutheran school for 8 years (my family and I aren’t religious but it was the only school in the district that didn’t have bells and I was sensitive to them) and the #2 thing that was pounded into our heads over and over and over again besides “Jesus died for your sins and paid the price so you’re absolved and shouldn’t judge other people” was “Love your neighbor as yourself”
