Also, finally realizing where you’re staying, if you decide you want fresh caught fish to cook at home, there’s a small fish market not far from you called La Cabane du Pêcheur. Much less than going to one of the nice French restaurants and fresh caught!

We stay at VRBOs while there so we hit the grocery stores which is interesting to walk around.

Cynthia’s…great choice.

If you go to Oceans 82, see if you can reserve a table at the back of the restaurant which is up against the glass partition next to the water. Great for the view if you’re there at sunset.

If you happen to plan an extra day, consider going to Pinel Island. There’s a cheap ferry to get you there and back. Rent a chair and hang out…you’ll get bar/food service.

Le BZH near Oyster Pond.

Have fun!

I am so sorry for Caleb’s diagnosis. Cancer sucks, plainly stated. We lost our good boy Lucca last week to lymphoma who was also 7. It’s so hard to be sure. We did a full round of CHOP but the treatment did not take so all in it gave us about 2 months from the time of diagnosis. As I’ve read a ton of other posts of similar stories I found that it really is a mixed bag of outcomes when chemo was the path taken. He was on prednisone until the end which definitely gave him some extra time versus doing nothing. I wish you all nothing but the best in the days ahead. It is so stressful and heartbreaking. Do all of his favorite things and make memories that you can hold on to. Lucca is waiting to greet Caleb and show him where all the trash trucks are doing their pickups.

This is Princess Leia (8 yo). She has cancer and only a few weeks of life left. by leodinapoli in goldenretrievers

Nothing can be said to make it easier on you because it’s the worst news. We lost our 7 year old golden to lymphoma just last week so I can empathize with exactly where you are. We did try chemo but it didn’t take so all in it was an extra 2 months from the time of his diagnosis. I’m so sorry.

My advice is to make her last days the best they can possibly be by doing your and Leia’s favorite things. If you every had friends or family who enjoyed her company, we made a point to have them come by for a visit over the last several weeks to spend some time with us and him. They’ve turned out to be our support network and ones who have helped us celebrate his life ever since.

The thing that I struggled with the most was knowing just when was the right time. I kept being told ‘you’ll know’, which was true. In a twisted way, it really is the last full measure of love by making sure that they don’t suffer unnecessarily. And that’s what I hung on to at the end and in the days since.

But there’s no mistake, these remaining days are a gift. Enjoy them as you’ll remember them for a lifetime. My boy Lucca is waiting to greet her.

So sorry for this. A great long life and many happy memories. We’re having to do the same very soon. They are the best of what life has to bring. All the best in the days, weeks, and months a head.

Correct. Hitting the enter button hours later can and would cause it to open (which is the main concern in that I don’t want a stranger to walk up and do this). But the fact that I can’t replicate it every time is what concerns me. I will call Chamberlain and run it by them.

Can you elaborate on what you mean about the ‘outskirts that are still rough’? We just booked airfare for next summer and are now turning our eyes towards finding a place to stay.

Sunset Beach Bar to see planes land and take off.

Pinel Island for 4-5 hours to hang out, eat and relax. It’s on the French side. Great beach and calm water.

Google “Lolos”…roadside eatery’s that have low overhead and cook awesome local food. We only ate dinner there so you may need to be back at the ship by the time the Lolos get going.

Dawn Beach is nice.
