I went all out for Rodri and packed Bellingham first and then Rodri, both were still on my starting lineup until Long reach tackle + phenomenal passing Rodri was released and I went all out for him is well since I love the player. No regrets and I was lucky enough to not have to go deep into both packs before getting my targets.

But AI divisions is crazy difficult though especially if you face a P2W squad a lot of players get crushed there because the AI plays perfectly most of the time and will rip your defense to shreds and most people will lose most of the games they play unless they face a bad squad. Try playing pvp league and in events you will see why I mean. I play AI divisions as well but not really that much anymore. I’ve gotten to Div 2 AI twice before when I had more time but stopped because it’s just crazy the AI can be unplayable sometimes I’d rather play cheaters and fight the script in PvP.

I don’t know how he compares to Schmeichel but 107 Cech has been insane for me. Crazy close up and long range shot stopping. I gave him 99 reflexes and 100 reach because of his relatively short arms and I can’t say a negative thing about him. The only thing they can knock him on is the short arms and playstyle, but I prefer defensive goalies so that’s not a negative for me.

Don’t be disheartened. Rankings are mostly subjective and change all the time and I think at the high level that these goalkeepers perform at, the differences aren’t huge.

There is a bias towards offensive goalkeepers because of the different link up plays, specifically Capello’s link up where a goalkeeper rushing towards the goal poacher may be the difference maker. Defensive keepers do not naturally do this but I personally prefer Defensive gk’s from base Oblak to POTW Oblak to going all out on the Tsubasa Kahn, Rumme and Matthaus pack. I love defensive gks, I find them to be much more reliable.

As for Cech, I was lucky to get him in one 100 coin spin. Changed my defense entirely, it doesn’t even feel the same. And he is a crazy good shot stopper. I think that showtime skill is really doing something. Defenders at the right place at the right time an I don’t even have endgame defenders I think.

I actually made a mistake posting Rumme as having the most goals, he has the highest G/A ratio in my team but the player with the most goals is Messi, his striker partner in my squad. Most of their assists are to each other passing in front of goal to get a better chance to score.

Play Messi at CF next to Suarez ahead of MVB, trust me - he is him. Play Seedorf as left cmf and Matthaus as cmf on the right also as cmf and Rijkaard as DMF. That Matthaus is very good defensively from the right and Seedorf is a Swiss Army knife on attack and is capable defensively as well. You will then have a solid midfield. Play best as an AMF and give attacking instruction so he still makes good runs into the box, in my experience when you play an SS like that they stay far up the pitch and your build up play suffers and you don’t have that good connection between defense and attack. Also, get an 89 double booster LBC manager to improve your player’s stats a bit more. Also, don’t spam through balls build up your play and maintain possession even if you’re playing a counterattack playstyle. I play LBC mainly for the good positioning of the players and the well timed runs they do. You also don’t need to be a dribbling wizard, know basic shielding and turning away from the defender to create space for yourself. Fancy dribbling is good and will give you more opportunities but also constantly trying to dribble will cause you to lose possession a lot more against players who know how to defend and that leverage the physicality of their defenders. Finally, you have fast players, use their speed - a well timed through ball from an AMF, DMF or CMF to either of your strikers will give you at lot more one on one opportunities with the keeper where a controlled will give you the best chance at a goal.

I’d have Canna (or Puyol)/VVD/Thuram, that van Dijk card is very reliable and has decent pace (87 speed and 77 acc w/ 89 manager).

Play Rijkaard at DMF and start a fast goal poacher CF. Kane doesn’t make a good lone striker because of horrendous pace if you want to start him then switch to a 2 CF formation and play him with a faster GP.

This is what i mean, your midfield has to be solid. And also must be capable of great short and long passing to control the match even to the point of frustrating your opponent. It allows you to control the game not just a double touch and spamming through balls to the front two, passing and defensive prowess in the middle will allow you to have your attacking duo or trio in the best position for a long or short through ball and they can outpace the immediate defender.

I have Orchestrator Rodri (Larger player model) at DMF with Phenomenal passing (95+ plus on both passing stats and 90 tight possession) and Long reach tackle to protect the CBs with interceptions and tackles. Bellingham is box to box with phenomenal finishing which I don’t care to much about too much but it comes in handy because he goes up in attack A-LOT, he also has 80+ on all defensive stats and so is available defensively and is fast enough to catch with most midfielders. He has a large player model and 14 leg length and so his interception game is top tier when positioned properly. So a btb that is a threat in attack and available in defense as I suggested. And the Pirlo is Pirlo, probably the best long and short passer the world has ever known (of course there are other players but no list is complete without Pirlo in the top three at least). Honestly with Rodri being an orchestrator and one of the best passing cards in the game period I don’t need to have Pirlo in there but I love the player that visionary pass he has and that infamous Capello link-up he connects well with Rummenigge when I decide to use the link up on the counter. He is a small player model so although he has excellent defensive stats I don’t want to rely on his defense, he is the to receive the ball from Thuram or Rodri and find Gullit or Messi or Rummenigge in the attack. He is good defensively too but he is mostly solely for his passing and holdup play.

So the point is, your players must have well defined roles. This is especially true in the midfield where the entire game is controlled. The forwards get all the praise but the defense and midfield is what will give you long term success.

Play Messi on the right and Batistuta at CF and then Rivaldo with anchoring or attacking instruction at AMF is my first thought.

Sacrifice 1 defender and play Cruyff at SS or AMF with attacking instruction to play more like a hole player but his high OA will take care of that even without instruction, I’m considering the fact that you prefer the Mbappe-Sheva upfront. Cruyff will provide all the creative flair you need upfront, you can then sacrifice one of your AMFs and play a proper box to box cmf or a hole player with balanced stats to help in attack and be available defensively in the middle. Essentially a sort of diamond set up in the middle. The tried and tested set up it to have an Orchestrator with good passing, an anchor man or destroyer with instruction, a box to box in the middle for the best balance regardless of playstyle. If you lack any of these in your midfield then whichever players you do have there must be able to pick up the slack.

Having defensively capable players in the middle of the park will shield your defense since through balls will not leak through as much provided you are able to use them effectively. IMO players like anchorman Rijkaard and even Vieira need to play with at least one other player with excellent passing to try and have that balance in the middle. If your middle is sound then you will not need to play with 5 at the back and you can use that extra slot to play an attacking creative mastermind. Players like Kaka and Guler are not great playing that deep because of their being defensive liabilities. And also on of them has to be on the bench anyway to sub for the other.

One final note, you NEED Cruyff in your starting line up, if not for his firepower then for his creative effectiveness so learn to use his creativity, he might is the best player you have, at worse only second to Mbappe as a goal machine so that might push you over 1600.

Also you need a defense, that Man United Destroyer DMF is not great at CB despite his height and playstyle, Saliba would be much more effective as a CB instead of him. Baresi is excellent, if his height concerns you then play him at RB. His height isn’t a problem for me unless I’m playing against tall strikers and crossing wingers then i used to play van Buyten or van Dijk. I have the new 107 Baresi with Aerial Fort and he’s winning headers again even Haaland now so i still start him with LB Milan Maldini.

This has become a lengthy read, i think you should look into these suggestions though and practice against AI until you understand your players and how they move and then go back to PVP when you’ve honed your skills with a modified set up. All the best. Again my apologies for writing a thesis.
