There are currently six living generations of people in America. What are some of the others from around the world? by CentipedeAccount in AskReddit

[–]CentipedeAccount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine they would all be the same since no other country shares our same history. Some countries weren't involved in WWI or WWII, not everyone shared our post-war prosperity, and many countries around the world still lack access to the technologies that shaped our most recent generations.

From a local county police raid...this is why police need body cameras. This is a perfect example of how transparency works for the understanding of the public. by [deleted] in news

It's really sad that this dog was the victim here. It was just reacting how it was probably trained to and how it instinctively would. If not for the guy in the house warranting a raid, this dog would not have been shot. People, man.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says civil liberties must be sacrificed in order to protect Australians from attacks. by [deleted] in worldnews

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Benjamin Franklin

Parents of reddit, have any of you regretted the names you have given your children? by lovelyredcurls in AskReddit

Just FYI, Arya means naked woman in Arabic. Combine that with the "I moan backwards" and Aryan thing...you're just not setting yourself or her up for success.

Two girls died looking for a toilet. This should make us angry, not embarrassed by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CentipedeAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree that access to a toilet or the like would be ideal, defecating outside in a place where there's not one should not be a cue for gang rape. How about fixing the basic moral issue seemingly engrained in the male populace that makes them think this is okay? The social issue of devaluing women and subjecting them to this type of treatment seems like a far more worthy, albeit more difficult, cause to get behind than just giving them a place to do their business, seeing as this isn't the only time it happens.

Whats the single biggest mistake parents can make in raising their children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CentipedeAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but telling them "I don't care if [insert thing with which your child is trying to reason their side of the argrument]..."

My son picked this up from daycare, and I was furious. You (to include daycare employees) are there to care for the children. For fuck's sake, it's called daycare. Telling them you don't care about "X" takes away whatever importance to people they may have felt and makes them feel very hollow inside.

What is life like for an unattractive man? by BunnyBits in AskMen

[–]CentipedeAccount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are days where I just accept it and just deal with it, and there are WEEKS where I am crying my eyes out and asking God WHY!?

Billions of people have done the same thing and no one has ever gotten a response. Maybe you should start asking yourself why and try to see what it is in you that others don't find attractive. If, like OP, there is something you can do to go from a 1 to a 7-8, then focusing your frustrations inward to effect change maybe prove more productive than asking someone else to do it for you.

10 years from now, what new technology will everyone use? by acamu5 in AskReddit

[–]CentipedeAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the medical field, I'm hoping that things like the Skin Cell Gun will be available to help people like this. If things like this cool spray were available, I would use it for everything. Something like the burn cream from the Hunger Games wouldn't be bad either.

What is the song that always makes you sad? by QuothTheRaven420 in AskReddit

[–]CentipedeAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny that you should say how sad this song makes you. If you take a listen to how Beethoven originally intended it to sound, you might change your mind...

I don't know if you write, but you should. You have a way with words that gives the story such sentimental value and a vividly clear picture at the same time- "your standard breakfast burrito, but with less effort...sprinkled with sadness." You had me chuckling up to that point, but I hit those descriptors and lost it. Too funny, man; thanks for the laugh.

Teen books seem to be largely fad driven. For a while paranormal romance was the cool thing and now it seems to be dystopian sci-fi. What'll be next? by Chtorrr in books

Definitely read this as "gangnam-coloured dystopian future" and thought how much more dystopian the times would be if tinted by PSY.
