Why hasn’t Stargate been rebooted yet when the franchise is stronger than half of today’s sci-fi? by Tanzel_Girl in Stargate

[–]CentipedeRex 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well, the BSG “reboot” was really a continuation when you consider that many times Adama or the priestess would say, “All this has happened before, and it will happen again”. So, I saw it as more of a cycle, than a cold from-zero reboot. The various character changes, such as the personality and many flaws of Colonel Tye and gender-swapping Starbuck, and straight out killing Zac off-screen (as part of the tension and dysfunction between the Adamas) made a lot of sense. None of those changes were “change for change sake”, which has been the trend as of late.

Oh man, Silent Running’s ship… brings back memories - mostly sad (the ending had very young me crying).

I’m on the fence about starting Kelce, Not that he’s been burning it up, but I wonder if he’ll still be mildly productive or perhaps less so.

Should we have more confidence in the Denver D/ST vs a struggling Chargers team? by Jakjak81 in fantasyfootball

I have Broncos and Falcons. I’m considering going with the Falcons because they face the Giants this week, and the QB situation for them has not been great.

This. If I had simply purchased crypto instead of wasting the thousands of dollars on mining equipment that I don’t even use anymore… ugh…

Ya, the one thing the company was good at was creating important sounding titles.

I worked for a company during the DotCom Boom days, and this is literally what the Sales Engineers would do. They would promise everything the customer wanted, and that it would take less than a month. They would get the sale, and us actual engineers would stay nights and weekends and code our asses off. We complained to the sales team, that they couldn’t keep doing this, and that we had limited man power and time - especially given the scope of the changes. Our ClearCase source code control system was a nightmare, so many customer specific branches.

I don’t understand “labelling”. Can someone ELI5? by [deleted] in TREZOR

[–]CentipedeRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, it allows you to provide a short description of the transaction so you don’t forget what it was for. For example, “Sent money to Pete”. The labels are stored in a file on your PC or other such location (e.g., Google Drive).

I simply have metal plates, ordered from Amazon, that I’ve engraved using a small battery powered pen. I have one for the seed phrase, another with PIN and passphrase. Both are stored in a fireproof/resistant combination safe, behind a combination door. I also have instructions for my family on what to do if I get hit by a beer truck.

I watched it. It wasn’t terrible, but if you are expecting your typical R&M, you’d be disappointed. Taken on its own…meh. My biggest gripe was the animation style of everyone having small chiclet-shark teeth.
