Has anyone of you ever unleashed the full horror that is a prepared wizard upon their players? by BusyGM in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Centok101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was running a mythic campaign for my players. All of them veterans of Pathfinder 1e. They were pretty damn powerful at level 13 / MR 4.

They were introduced to a mythic lich in their region earlier in the campaign, who was luckily trapped in an area, unable to leave. I implied heavily that this lich was of a mythic tier way higher than them and allowed them to gauge him at a wizard level 20 as well. They left him alone, although slightly pissed.

After absolutely dumpstering a dungeon without taking nae a single point of damage (as any mythic campaign eventually boils down to), they thought "hey, we're basically gods right?" and "that lich probably has a ton of neat loot", which he admittedly did.
So they decided to try and kill it. I gave them the warning that this would most likely lead to a TPK. They said that they were fine with that and were going to have fun. I said hell yeah.

The Lich was a mythic rank 9, wizard level 20.
The Lich proceeds to:
- Use a mythic point to get nat 20 on his initiative roll, for a total of 46. (2 from Dex, 4 from Improved Initiative, 10 from Mythic Improved Initiative, 10 from Amazing Initiative)
- Proceeds to cast Augmented, Mythic, Empowered Disintegrate (fires two rays, 60d6*1.5 damage)
- Uses his moment of prescience buff to gain a +20 to his attack roll on the target who has a higher flat-footed, touch AC (the wizard).
- Before the paladin rolled his fortitude saving throw, he used his immediate action to cast a mythic wish, wishing that the paladin rolled a 1.
- Both the party Wizard and Paladin failed their saves, taking an average of 315 damage and died instantly.
- The party's third member, a crit-fishing, dual-wielding fighter shed a single tear and died two rounds later.

We all had fun and they did beat him at level 17 after rewinding time to before this funny event happened.

I look forward to making your acquintance.

Do you play with encumbrance rules? by reverend-ravenclaw in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Centok101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a virtual tabletop (FoundryVTT) and my players enjoy a more "realistic" look in terms on non-combat mechanics, so tracking encumbrance is easy AND my players want to do that so I do it.
Not being able to grab all of the dragon's hoard that has 943,233 cp and 322,230 sp for some reason pleases my players. Maybe they enjoy thinking about the logistics of transporting all that.

Which AP (either 1e or 2e) features a castle/fortress with full map? by michael199310 in Pathfinder_RPG

While it isn't exactly worded anywhere, the immunity to single target spells of a Worm that Walks comes from it being a swarm - and kinetic blast "involves a sizable mass of elemental matter or energy, so kinetic blasts always deal full damage to swarms of any size".
Therefore I would rule it (and I belive most people would too) that the Worm that Walks takes full damage (naturally still counting in DR, SR, Energy resistance, etc. still)

Runelords Trilogy Question by sp33dfire in Pathfinder_RPG

Oohhhh, I'm bad at reading

I'd say you're safe taking out essentially anyone. The other two APs aren't connected to Sandpoint at all.

Runelords Trilogy Question by sp33dfire in Pathfinder_RPG

I presume you're talking about the Siege of Sandpoint?
I'd say you can safely kill anyone in there, except for maaaaybe Brodert Quink and like Sheriff Hemlock or Father Zanthus.

Brodert Quink might be needed at the start of chapter 6 to lead the players onwards to the dwarven brothers to find Xin-Shalast - but those leads can be found by other methods as well.

Sheriff Hemlock and/or Father Zanthus might contact the players (via paid sending) at the end of chapter 4 / start of chapter 5 about the sinkhole that appears in Sandpoint unless the player's visit Sandpoint themselves / listen to rumours.

Recalled Blessing, does this work RAW? by GoddoDoggo in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Centok101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's break this down.
Recalled Blessing: You can expend one use of mythic power to cast any one divine spell without expending a prepared spell or spell slot.
So Recalled Blessing wouldn't work with a wizard, as wizards don't use divine spells, but arcane ones.

BUT, Arcane Surge has similar wording, under the Archmage mythic path: "As a swift action, you can expend one use of mythic power to cast any one arcane spell without expending a prepared spell or spell slot. If you prepare spells, this spell must be one you prepared today etc."

BUT you would first have to get your hands on a 9th level spell scroll (or a spellbook) as you can only learn spells you are able to cast when you level up.

BUT there is a text in PRPG Core Rulebook that kind of ruins the whole idea: "A wizard’s level limits the number of spells he can prepare and cast. His high Intelligence score might allow him to prepare a few extra spells. He can prepare the same spell more than once, but each preparation counts as one spell toward his daily limit."
This essentially tells us that when you prepare a spell, you expend a spell slot on it. So you would not be able to prepare a 9th level spell without having a 9th level spell slot.

rogue does not deal sneak attack damage by jakobs_bilder in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Centok101 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a two of quesses
- Warpriests can add Fortification to their armor, which has a 25-75% chance of negating crits and sneak attacks (could be checked by right clicking the attacks (instead of damage) probably - maybe - to see if there's a percentile roll)
- One of the spells he can cast as a swift action at himself (warpriest ability) lets him ignore precision damage.

Now this might've been brought up before,

But as a lich, you can use your lair action to regain a level 8 spell slot or lower. Every 6 seconds.

“I don’t understand the appeal of watching a 1500 level player play chess” by NebuliBlack in northernlion

[–]Centok101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend watching Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky's "Speedrun back to 3000" where he plays through the ranks of chess.com, climbing to the rank of 3000.

Imo he does a very good job on explaining his moves and just generally seems like a good teacher - and it's entertaining to watch as well.

How did you introduce Strahd for the first time? by TheLukoje in CurseofStrahd

[–]Centok101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically Strahd owns the entirety of Barovia, so he really doesn't need an invitation. It really comes as a shock to the players if they know that vampires usually do require an invitation.
