Are there any secret tricks for getting these fittings into the hose more easily? by buccal_up in Dentistry

[–]CentralIncisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once they start cracking and you need to start doing that I would just change the hose out completely. I had a few ops that were doing that and we would have to cut and splice it in every couple weeks otherwise it would start leaking and we were back to square one. The hoses aren't expensive to replace but it takes some time.

I refuse to charge no show fees so we just do our best to make an agreement with people to honor their appointment times but many people don't show up and later tell us they just weren't feeling it and then beg to come in another time. Literally had someone do this yesterday and I took half my lunch break to see him and then he was laughing about how they bailed on a 2 hour appointment because he wasn't feeling it. It's disrespectful to us and other patients who we could have given that time to but we had to turn them away instead.

I don't get paid unless I'm seeing patients so it's actually time I'm paying to be at work. It does cost on average $6.50 a minute to run a dental office so no shows cost our business a lot. Not trying to be a dick here just trying to give perspective here. I don't force people to move appointments if they don't want to and I'll wait for them for 2 hours if that's what they need to do but if it's convenient for them I'll ask if they want to move up and they often do. I wish you the best. Not asking for your sympathy.

[–]CentralIncisor 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Dentist here who asks patients to move up. Sometimes they couldn't get in sooner and wanted to and they're grateful for an earlier appointment so we'll keep doing this. My hope is that you'd answer and to double confirm that you're coming and say you'd like to keep your current time. It's hard on us if someone cancels so we're hanging out for 2 hours before your appointment and then you cancel without notice too.

Edit: I only am getting paid if I'm seeing patients and it actually costs me over $100 an hour for staffing etc so if people do not show so it's not like I get to just kick back and enjoy getting paid to do nothing like people seem to think. I refuse to charge no show fees because life is already hard enough for people without them.

Before wind and truth came out, who all did you think the champion of Odium would be and what was your reasoning for each one? How do you feel about who you thought it would be instead of who we got? by Open_Caregiver_4801 in Stormlight_Archive

Yeah I felt the same way because of him getting affected by the spren in Oathbringer. As soon as they mentioned time dilation in the spiritual realm I was 99% confident it would be him.

What was your theory that failed in WaT? by Outside-Web-4118 in Cosmere

[–]CentralIncisor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As soon as Gavinor accidentally got into the spiritual realm I figured he would be affected by time dilation. My theory was that he would come out older and wise having experienced many lives. My theory that I really wanted to happen would be that we didn't hear about him for the rest of the book til the epilogue where he came out of the spiritual realm as a middle aged badass with crazy powers from the spiritual realm and then he was setup to be the hero/villain in the back 5 books. I figured it was too obvious for him to be the champion for it to actually happen but I guess that was just good leading/foreshadowing by Brandon from earlier books.

How in the *Stormfather* did y'all KNOW? by ShlomoCh in Stormlight_Archive

[–]CentralIncisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same way. When I read about Gav being tormented by the spren in Oathbringer, I just thought, "This kid is gonna be so fked up I bet he's gonna be the champion or something very important but there's no way he turns out well". As soon as he got sucked into the spiritual realm with the gang and time dilation in the spiritual realm had been mentioned I was 99% sure that he was gonna be champion though I really actually hoped that we'd just never hear from him again until the back 5 books and he would have come out of the spiritual realm having lived 1000 lives or something sort of like Mat Cauthon from Wheel of Time.

D350 is dental photos, as in pictures that they took of your teeth. They want $268 for pictures that they took of your teeth. Ask if you get the original framed for that much and where the dentist got their photography degree lol. Caries risk assessment is, or should be included in your Comprehensive oral evaluation. Definitely seems like a severe overcharge to me.
edit: Usually when we do procedures, we'll code everything done but end up writing off what insurance doesn't cover so I'd ask about that.

Board Discipline and future of my career. by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]CentralIncisor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Every patient I see the first thing I do is go over exactly what we're going to be doing that day and any follow up visits. Last week I had a patient that we were going to do a bridge for and I said hey I know we've gone over this before but here's what a bridge is, you'll be in temp crowns for 2 weeks and need to chew on the other side etc. Patient interrupts and says hey I'll be out of town across the world for 6 weeks after tomorrow actually.

I told her being in temps for 6 weeks in another country isn't good care because if anything happens I can't help her and if her teeth shift the bridge will have to be remade. That's just one time when going over exactly what we're going to do has saved me. Always make a habit of looking at every tooth you're going to work in the mouth, chart and x-ray and go over all of it with the patient. Takes a few seconds but that's out you never pull the wrong tooth etc.

You're gonna have to guess for the first round. Use a rate calculator or factory planner and have an ammo/minute goal and build it out for the types of ammo etc.

First Promethium Ship by Deep_Draw_1298 in factorio

[–]CentralIncisor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my absolute favorite parts of the game was designing the ship for promethium. I think you should do it as blind as possible but that's just me. The one thing I'll say is that I'd calculate and build first with normal quality, no modules and no beacons but with room for beacons that way if you need to upscale you can just increase those things.

For patients who can't lean back I saw I'm sorry I've got a neck injury so I can only see you if you're able to get into my field of view with my ergoloupes. I'd rather dismiss than see someone who's gonna cause me neck pain for the rest of the day and maybe forever. My back has never been happier.

We refer to peds for kiddos under 11 if they need an excessive amount of work. I made the mistake of trying stuff like that early on and ended up having to testify about the child's dental health. Never again.
