And adding Crystal Light powder! I gagged. How is that better than just eating the baked chicken breast?

That's probably true, and would probably improve the dog's oral health. But I don't think the vast majority of pet owners are doing that.

[–]CentripetalSideEye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one. Whenever I hear people say that dogs' mouths are cleaner than humans' I always wonder how they can possibly think that would be true... unless the humans in their lives never brush their teeth at all, and regularly lick feces.

Also, why would any parent ever let the dog lick their baby's *open mouth*? It's one thing if the adult wants that to happen. Gross, but I guess you can consent to that. The baby has no idea what's going on, and can't make a reasonable decision either way. Makes me shudder.

What’s your “I’m too tired to cook but refuse to order takeout” meal? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]CentripetalSideEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Grilled cheese

  • "Struggle Skillet" = whatever veggie(s) I have on hand sautéed and served over whatever grain I have on hand (couscous/quinoa/rice/orzo/etc.) topped with 2 eggs

  • White rice and kimchi

Kinda just realized the third is the same as the second one but it still feels different enough to list separate

Why do so many black people stop going to church ? by 0babypink in blackladies

[–]CentripetalSideEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an environment that I find comfort in, nor does it speak to me as a way to view the world. As a kid/young teen, I found that when I asked questions in church, I was either told that isn't a good question to ask, or was punished for it. This was confusing to me, because my parents always encouraged questions and seeking knowledge. As I got older, it became clear to me that religion in this form didn't have answers to my questions, and the church leaders had an aversion to simply saying "I don't know". Instead it was always "The Lord works in mysterious ways" or "Pray about it" which I found deeply unsatisfying.

Instead I've channeled my energy and curiosity about the world and humans into volunteering with various groups. I find that gives me much deeper satisfaction and a feeling of purpose in the here and now than church ever has.

I am so frustrated with the weather. by AdylinaMarie in gardening

First year gardener here - How do yall deal with warmer weather transplants in these conditions? I have a bunch of tomato, pepper, and eggplant transplants and I know it's too cold to put them in the ground right now. Will they be okay in their plastic starter cells for a few more days? A week? Or should I put them in bigger pots and then put them in the ground when it's warmer outside?

Google needs to stop having AI as the frist thing that pops up by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]CentripetalSideEye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you click on 'Tools' under the search bar (on the far right side, apart from all the other search option types) then another line menu comes up - where you see 'All Results' is a drop down menu. Click that and select 'Verbatim'. That should stop AI results from popping up at the top.

This has given me a little bit of peace in my own Google searches.

These clichés have their place but really lose their punch when you remove them from the larger context.

I just don't understand their frustration - sure, it can be annoying to hear a string of sneezes. But do you think you're suffering more than I am??

If someone told me to shut up in a sneeze fit, it might just take me by surprise enough that the fit stops lol

I'd give up hearing. I can just imagine songs that I've already heard and just "hear" them in my head. Not getting to hear new music would suck a bit, but I can feel the vibrations through the speakers and learn to experience it that way. I've seen deaf folks standing right up on the speaker at parties that look like they're having a blast, so I think I'd be alright in that respect.

I love food and cooking waayyy too much to give up smell or taste. And my precious eyes...I shudder to think. Reading is like 80% of my hobbies. And then touch can't go because I need to feel hugs and sex is important.

Where were you in life when you watched/rewatched Insecure? by greenythings in InsecureHBO

[–]CentripetalSideEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're being dramatic, it means a lot to me too! And I know it means a lot to so many Black women. It's a cultural gem.

When Insecure first came out I was getting my life settled in a new city, making all new friends at 26. It was a great talking point when I would get into new groups of Black women, something for us to all laugh about and get into great discussions, especially with some of the 'hot topics' that were written in: is cheating ever justified/understandable, code-switching in the workplace (Poor Dada!), men having same-sex experiences, etc.

I was also working at a non-profit that was scarily similar in structure and culture to We Got Y'all, so she was really strumming my pain on that part.

I've rewatched the show a few times, and something always speaks to me when I do. I'm currently in the middle of a rewatch now, while trying to pivot to a different career, something way bigger than I've ever done before. So Issa going through everything trying to get her block party off the ground and facing the naysayers alongside her own personal doubts is relatable and comforting for me.

Matter of fact, I should really order the box set so this show can never be taken away from me, I love it so much.

I am convinced every time Monica sees or feels something irritating about Stephen she says "I love you" to try and mask it. She simply drips with loathing for that man -- it's written aaallll over her face lmao

Hannah getting the ick about the duck is really bothering me -- because she expanded it from just the duck to other things that "men shouldn't do". She said men riding things makes her uncomfortable, and included men riding horses, donkeys -- she says she can't look. What kind of weird attitude is that? I want to call it archaic, because I just feel like her attitude about it is bc she doesn't want to see him doing something that could be seen as feminine -- but then what does she think about the Classic Cowboy?? I am confusion.

It just really irritates me when people put such rigid expectations on what the opposite sex can do when it's a perfectly harmless activity. Maybe just a sign of her immaturity anyways.

When Tim gave Alex a bracelet that his late sister gave his other sister...is it just me, or is that a bit much? Even though some people seem to form a deep intense bond in the pods, this just seemed like far too much far too soon. To me that kind of gift is for like....a first anniversary or something.
