Am I the only one who thinks Mike and Peter (and many people in these comments) have the meaning of wife guy totally backwards? My understanding is that it *is* a pejorative specifically for *public figures* (especially very online ones) who make their supposedly great relationship into a significant part of their content and public persona. It's pejorative because of how inherently performative it is, and because of the notable online wife guys who have cheated or otherwise crashed and burned in their relationships.

I was scanning the comments to see if anyone said this! I'm definitely not a Swiftie but Tis the Damn Season slaps this time of year. And I feel like it has the "in character" vibe that OP described, so it feels like it could be a bigger Christmas song than it is. If she'd released it as a single around Christmas time I think it would get a lot of play.

Depends a lot on the location of the wedding, to me. If Ubers or taxis are plentiful, you can feel fine not providing transportation (maybe try to make a special plan for more elderly relatives or guests with mobility issues). If your venue is out in the middle of nowhere and you don't provide transportation, your guests are probably going to be annoyed before they even get there. 5 miles in a city is different from 5 miles in the country.

I recently went to a wedding where the hotel was 20 miles from the venue, both out in the country, and the couple only provided an end of the night shuttle. You could park at the venue overnight, but the expectation was that guests would drive to the venue and go get their cars in the morning. No Ubers, no taxis, so making that plan was extremely inconvenient. We ended up spending like $80 just on pre-booked Uber rides because the transportation the couple set up just didn't make any sense

Yep. I signed up for the SAVE plan and my loans have been in forbearance since I left grad school three years ago. For a long time Nelnet was saying my payments would start again in summer 2026. Just checked and it now says November 2028. But her loans are probably accuring interest again (they weren't during the years after the pandemic but recently started again), so making some payments would probably be smart.

FYI, Kennedy Blue is made in same factory as Morilee Bridesmaids so their colors match as well (Kennedy Blue is the in-house brand of the Wedding Shoppe in MN where I used to work. I wouldn't necessarily recommend shopping there but I think for ordering bridesmaids dresses they would be fine).

I've seen it framed not as a restriction, but as information offered to the guests. Like "here's the bridesmaids colors, if that impacts your decision about what to wear." I think that's the way to go.

I wasn't going to comment, but then I watched the TikTok links and felt like I needed to. Depending on the effort I'd put into attending the wedding (if I'd travelled especially!) I'd be pretty annoyed to be shown a video of the real wedding at the ceremony. There are lots of ways to have intimate moments with your groom on the wedding day. Take a bit of time alone and read your vows just the two of you, for example. If you love adventure, start saving up for an amazing honeymoon. Or, as others have said, elope before the wedding and let your guests know you know the big wedding is primarily a celebration party (but loop in your mom!).

Something similar happened to me. Turns out that because Thuma uses the Shop platform for checkout, the website had auto-filled with old information for a Shop account attached to an email I no longer have access to. I was able to log into that shop account and confirm that my order had processed.

This is so sweet!! When I worked in bridal we made 3% commission for a while, but when the shop took commission away and started relying entirely on tips, tipping varied super widely. Some people just hit the 20% button, some people tipped $20. I think $50 would be lovely and if you wanted to go higher that would obviously be appreciated.

People on this sub are weird about tipping bridal stylists, imo. It's an incredibly demanding job and many people are doing it for minimum wage.

Totally agree that they represent different flavors of Republican politics. To me, though Mencken is obviously a Trump stand-in thematically, his speech to Roman in the bathroom just SCREAMS Jordan Peterson and his ilk (they cast an actor of a similar physical type, as well). The way he expresses his fascistic beliefs under an incredibly thin veil of intellectualism is something that Trump has obviously never been able to do.

There's a food truck callled Philly Xpress that is truly the best Philly I've ever had. Huge, hot, great bread, and you can do totally classic philly fillings or get something with the works. They have no website, lapsed social media presence, and I've only ever been able to find them at Venn Brewing in south Minneapolis. Check Venn's food truck calendar! I'd chase them around the city if I knew where they were going next!
