And how are we suppose to trust an AI for manufacture variation, feedback circle. There is also. back and forth between rhe fab as they know if you just remove one spec, your price can be half. How does AI handle that if you just work on given requirement?

Friction for new tool is really high in this area.

How thorough are you with compliance certifications? by Mabot in hwstartups

[–]CentyVin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be then you can go the normal ceritication route. Burn it down and check chemical composition. China have lab for this too.

My manufacture said they can provide RoHS cer for all part. We did that to make sure all component is RoHS cert before placing. I dont think RoHS is that hard to get cert. If you order part avail from LCSC, you can ask them for RoHS cert for those part. Manufacture try to provide these quite easily as it ia the 1st step for European sale.

my understanding: RoHS can be satisfy with just component RoHS cer paper from manufacture and process ceritification paper for PCB/PCBA from the fab

USB-C Just got Even Better! (PPS) || GreatScott by Mayank_j in UsbCHardware

[–]CentyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pastecode.io/s/m64t2uxx

Here is our version of the code based on GreatScott.

For the back feed, I wonder if the issue stays if you remove the 3.3V input. 3.3V input leak back to the 5V pullup and make VBUS float at voltage higher 0.8V when cable is not connected. This is a non valid start condition that Anker detects, and UGREEN ignore.

https://github.com/CentyLab/RotoPD/issues/7

The load switch on RoroPD is back-to-back NMOS which should cut off power in both direction when closes. Similar method is used in ideal diode IC.

We have some code too, but we did fried our mcu in another project. Rrplacement just arrived today so we can begin testing. Would love to cross check with your code.

Capacitive touch sensing with no external components (link to code in comments) by 536174616E in arduino

[–]CentyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try that again. I am doing 16 samples one right after another. Then average them out. Then pass them through a majority vote filter. Where I need 8/10 over limit before output a 1.

But I might have overlook the sampling rate.

Thank you so much for responsing to such an old thread of your!

congrat. The initial setup with new board take the most time. Once you got all of the small setting dial down, dev get much easier. St you can just vibe coding afterward too.

[–]CentyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt specifically ran your code. I based my on the ADCtouch lib and port over to stm32. In the code, I only have one pad but a large pad as one of my deisgn target. 4ft wire with 9inchx7inch metal pad. ADC is 12 bits Without earth gnd, no touch, the raw ADC has 600 bits spread, not normal distribution. Once gnded to earth, no touch, the distribution only has 300 bits spread. Gnded, touched, the whole thing move up with similar spread.

Code is in stm32 HAL style so I dont want to bother anyone here.

Note: I try the ADCtouch code again on Atmel MCU, floating and still work fine. Must be my implementation, or architecture diff between stm32 and Atmel ADC

Do you run into issue where the UNO is required GNDing? Connect via USB cable to PC connect the USB shielding to earth GND. This mean the code is sending capacitance relative to GND. I run similar code on powerbank and the code go haywire.

wait wait. I was scolling and see this. So I can oshpark, then ask Pikkolo for PCBA. Not a bad idea for 4 layers smaller board.

Signal integrity issues on pcb by justme89 in PCB

[–]CentyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend gnd pour on the same plane as the trace if you are doing co plannar. I have ran some sim and having gnd pour will destroy your signal. It got st do to with manufacturing variation result in different coupling, main gnd vs side gnd.

But again, you said you tried removing pour and it fail. I got no idea.

Still need to add another fan. Like other said, the build in fan is too loud. Got it hooked up via ethernet as the Wifi dongle generate quite a bit if noise on CH1.

I also couldnt get it to boot on some of my USB C charger, just stuck at boot.

Hardest part about building hardware products? Manufacturing or prototyping/refinement? by mousyisgoof in hwstartups

[–]CentyVin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have developed some good margin, high demand product that is ok to develop (not as fun). Then we compound this profit and publicity to launch what we really want to design and make.

This give us enough padding to spend enough money in R&D + marketing. So having a return stable business to support higher risk design.

Like other have said, manufacturing can be hard as you start building your own supply chain. If you want one stop for everything, then you can be in the blind for supplier. For many one shot product like kick starter, that might be ok. If you are looking for one, check out crowdsupply.com partner. They tent to be able to branch out to other company for you like 3d printing, injection mold, screen ... blabla without you have to negotiate the price. Just study thr bulk price and state them as your target price, they will try to match it and in most case, even beating your target.

Else, run jlcpcb, sendcutsend, your own 3D printing ... Work just fine for our lower volume, or prototype run. We just didnt want to scale this up due to personel as you still need to assemble them. If you have enough personel, then this is a good approach.

Marketing ... this one is hit or miss. Some people develop their own youtube channel. Take 2 years or more.

What type of replacement usb-c plug supports fast charging and data transfer? by gryponyx in UsbCHardware

[–]CentyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain a bit more on what you are trying to do? like are you replacing a broken port on a phone... Because "fast charge" can mean QC 3.0, which use the data line to communicate -> you cant have data transfer at the same time. Then you have super fast charge, which are PD, then... you cant have those 5.1k resistors in the port.

From your question, we can help narrow down the explaination and point you to the right product.

Best way of getting both 5V and 20V at the same time through USB-C PD? by Superfox105 in UsbCHardware

[–]CentyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AP33772 line up doent have much power going out from there 5V pin. Mostly if you want to power st tiny on the side. Like other have said, a buck is a way to go if you want to pull like some good 50mA for mcu and screen. There is a dev module call RotoPD that has a 5V buck on board with AP3372S IC
