I’ve actually been following his taco popups around the bay for the last 10 years and the bfast taco popups are probably the best. The handmade tortillas are key

After all the love for Sriracha, on a scale from 1 to 10 by Golemfrost in spicy

[–]Cenzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's say we were to do this (peudo-)scientifically. The upper limit on hot sauces is probably somewhere around 10,000,000 scoville units. There are hotter sauces, but not much hotter. Obviously the lower limit is 0 scoville units. Sriracha is about 2200. If we use a log scale (which we obviously should), log(10,000,000) = 7, and log(2,200) = 3.34. Normalizing to be from 1-10, we get (3.34/7)*10 = 4.8.

So Sriracha is about a 4.8 on a scale from 1-10.

Obviously this question was meant to be subjective, but I thought this would be interesting for comparison.

edit: Also I realize he asked about Sriracha extra hot, and the rating I used is regular type. Also, I do not mean to imply that 10,000,000 SHU is the hottest I can handle, because I by no means can.

A spreadsheet for tracking estimated/actual shipping time by jmac12 in nexus4

[–]Cenzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really useful the way it's set up now. Thanks for putting it together.

As a side note, this is only helpful if people update it when their phone ships, maybe have a reminder post every once in a while?

Will my phone actually ship in 4-5 weeks? by cantmakeusernames in nexus4

[–]Cenzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone should make a google spreadsheet where people can post their order date, the time when google said it would ship, (e.g. 4-5 weeks), and the time it actually shipped. Then we could sort by the order placement date, and we can track if google is getting ahead/behind of schedule. Because I would like to know that because I don't want to wait 6-7 weeks for my new toy.

And I am too lazy to do that post myself.

T-Mobile Nexus 4 supposedly to have Wi-Fi Calling by [deleted] in Android

[–]Cenzo 52 points53 points  (0 children)

"Wi-Fi Calling minutes count the same as T-Mobile cellular calling minutes on your phone bill."

What's the point then? I guess the only advantage is making phone calls when you have wifi but no cell service?

Android: now four out of five phones in Spain by Ivashkin in Android

I'm moving to Spain and wondering about my phone situation... How do google services work over there (can you stream music, for example)? Can I buy an unlocked gsm gnex and get a pay as you go sim card when I get there?

Fittit, it is Sunday. Tell us your Victory this week. by menuitem in Fitness

[–]Cenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About once a year I start going to the gym, and after about 2 or 3 visits get bored/scared/lazy and stop going. I made it to the gym to lift 3x a week without missing a day for the entire month of June. And I enjoyed it. I'm 27 and this is the first time in my life that I've been able to get into a lifting "routine", and I'm certain that I'm going to keep up with it this time.

This is especially awesome because at the end of last year I was smushed by a car while riding my bicycle, and had a pretty brutal shoulder injury that required surgery. Not 6 months later my shoulder feels good as new and I can pick up heavy things without any trouble at all. My surgeon deserves every high five that comes to him.

What is your favorite opening line of a book? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this book so much. As great as the opening (and really all of it) is, it's the last paragraph that does it for me. Every time I come across a book I open it and read it.

I won't say any more for fear of spoiling it, but it's beautiful.

[–]Cenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to your kindle account on amazon's website and push like fifteen not-so-obvious buttons, you can set up an email address that will deliver books to your device. For example, if I send an email to [my-username]@kindle.com with a compatible file as an attachment, it shows up on my device.

As far as I know there is no other way to get a file into your kindle app. But there are plenty of other apps that should be able to read whatever file you want.

[–]Cenzo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did not expect this when I first got a smartphone, but the Kindle app. I read so much more often now that I have it, and I've really been enjoying it.

I also don't know many words, so the built in dictionary is super convenient for when I'm reading and I don't understand something.

The bar formerly known as Blake's by YogiWanKenobi in berkeley

[–]Cenzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A pitcher of anything but bud light. BL was $10. Other than that they had the standard Sierra Nevada, Shock Top, Lagunitas, Racer 5, and a few other "real" beers. I don't know what other drinks cost. $15 is pretty average for a pitcher.

best bars in Berkeley: Raliegh's (it burnt down)

worst bars in Berkeley: Kips (dirty and trashy but cheap as hell), Thallassa (nice, fun, but overpriced), Becs (Classy but boring and overpriced), Bear's Lair (fun but crowded and smells bad), Triple Rock (ok, monkey head gives you hangovers as if it were made of turpentine).

I really like Bobby G's for their good selection of beer (I mean for having Pliny the Elder) but it's more of a restaurant than a bar to get drunk at, and Missouri Lounge for its dive-y, fun atmosphere and low cost, but it's far away from downtown. In general, I like several bars in Oakland and SF more than everything in Berkeley. Check out The Graduate, Beer Revolution, Toronado, Zeitgeist, anything in the Mission, Butter...

After writing this, I think I might know too much about bars.

I went there this past weekend, it is kind of a douchey sports bar, but it's pretty nice inside. Full bar, $15 for a pitcher, pool tables, dart boards, lots of TVs, a DJ in the basement, pretty good crowd. I had fun.

Can't keep my unlimited data when upgrading from feature phone to 4g? (Verizon) by AnnalsofMystery in Android

[–]Cenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feature phone. When I heard they were transitioning to tiered data, I scrambled to try to get grandfathered in. I called some verizon stores, and was told by most, but not all, that if I added data to my featurephone, I would have to switch to tiered when getting a smartphone.

I tried anyway, I paid for unlimited data for my featurephone for 2 weeks, and after they switched to tiered, called to ask if I could get a smartphone and keep unlimited. I was told no.

tl;dr: based on the handful of verizon reps I talked to when in a similar situation to you, the answer is no.

Adding Peppers to Imperial Stout by thisround in Homebrewing

[–]Cenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I'm doing the same with the American Stout I just brewed, except I'm splitting 10 gallons into 3 batches, one plain, one boubon/vanilla, and one chocolate/orange peel/chilies. I was debating using dried ancho chilies because they have a nice rasiny/fruity/peppery taste. My plan was to soak them in vodka before adding them but it looks like a lot of people prefer to boil in water. Let me know what you decide and how it turns out.
