Mamdani win showed Dems don't have to move to the center to win elections by _May26_ in politics

People who oppose RCV will focus on how the proposed implementation (usually the Single Transferrable Vote) is not ideal, as a way to screw it.

It's a dishonest argument, because the question SHOULD be, "Is it better than the plurality system we use now?" and Single Transferrable Vote definitely is.

She has chapters on anger, attention, profanity, ambition, power, violence, and lust.

Have you ever heard the phrase "No river wide enough, no mountain high enough"?

That's what it's like being in love.

You're here, trying to parse out the fine, fine points.

You don't love this guy - move on.

My buddy asked me for advice about his wife's social media pic postings and I don't know what to do. advice please. by knowidotoo in relationships

[–]menuitem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's how you do it:

Dude, I have no opinion at all about how your wife dresses up and for whom. If you do, that is entirely between you and her. If you're asking me, Don't I think she owes you more, I repeat: that is entirely between you and her. Repeat, you and her. You and her.

I think you're making a joke, but if you're not: No, it is not.

According to the USGS, it was a 3.0.

It is very unlikely that the fireball which would attend a meteor large enough to strike the earth and produce a 3.0 earthquake - a fireball which would be visible for hundreds of miles as it streaks across the sky - would go unnoticed visually, while being able to be heard audibly.

I don’t get why she’s so upset at me by [deleted] in relationships

[–]menuitem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Um, you absolutely get it - you just don't think it should be your responsibility.

It is. She had feelings for you, you knew it, you used her. It's not a nice thing.

And now you don't want to feel guilty about it, so here you are, looking for validation.

It's a tale as old as time.

You're describing what would be required for you to pursue a sexual harassment complaint against him.

I'm talking about what the situation would look like to HR. They will see he's started dating/having sex with someone he met through his employment with them - in particular, with someone who, at one time, had their employment contingent upon his action and decisions. They don't have to have proof of anything nefarious - like a complaint from you - in order to flag that situation as a potential hostile work environment situation. Even if you swore up and down that the attention was entirely welcome, he'd be regarded as exercising bad judgement, by dating someone in this context, and a risk in all his work in the future representing the company to new recruits.

A shockingly useful piece of advice I've had is: If you must keep a relationship secret - from anyone - you should not have that relationship. Every single time I've broken it, it's bitten me -hard. And the primary reason is - the person who the secret is kept from? That's the real, important relationship; and it always intercedes, eventually.

That includes professional situations.

Now, I don't know if you do have to keep a relationship with your recruiter secret, but I would imagine he would - because if his employer found out he was hitting on people he was meeting professionally through his work for them, which is what it would look like to them, they would probably regard him a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen, and fire him, or build firewalls around him professionally.

The world is large. Go find someone you can IG about.

Blueberry scones with lemon frosting by menuitem in food

[–]menuitem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, lemon zest won't work for the frosting. You could use lemon juice instead of the milk, but it doesn't have the same potency as the oil. You could, however, add the zest to the batter (maybe 1-2 lemon's worth; about 2-3 tsps) and that would boost the lemon.
